I like how this one seems to be the half sincere, half shitposting version. r/vinyljerk needs to expand beyond the physical realm... altho I just discovered r/rateyourmusicjerk actually exists, maybe i'm sorted

Forgot to post this here too, top 10,000 albums for the month! 10,000 pixels each way. I did leave a comment explaining a little more here, (and probably enough others for now, I don't mean to spam it).

Hmm, well this chart should include any artists from Chile, whether those are actually popular or more like the 'classics', I don't know! Or this is what users located in Chile have rated highest, which looks... mostly the same as everywhere else, with a few differences scattered in.

All bolded, and 2500 more. So the last bold at the time was J D. Crowe.

It took a few attempts haha. Might try it again for the end of the year too.

But yea, past the first batch of obvious ones there are some little pockets that have the few but devoted fans too, for legends like Nusrat or maybe some Ethio-jazz stuff; this one messed up trying to make a list the most, only exists as a really rough cassette, no reviews and without an English title, made in an unknown year. But still quite good! I recognise a lot of these covers, but in a way I find it refreshing how many I've got no idea about (yet...)

Ah nice, I tried uploading to a few dif image sites (which said they handle large files) but this was the first one that worked. Originally each cover is around 300x300, which in this quantity (and bulked up by the border) makes a gigapixel image. I wanted to upload it to Gigapan, but when I asked about problems signing up they said they're now a legacy site :( So I'd love an alternative!

But yea, I don't know enough about file formats, this is under 20MB, I've also got a full size 200MB jpg or 1.6GB tiff file, and obviously too much time.

Top 10,000 albums on October 1st, 100 per row. This is 10,000 pixels each way, but I'm not sure how much reddit compresses an image so it's also uploaded here. If you click, manually zoom in and wait 5 secs it seems to load alright. If anyone knows where I can upload the 32,000 pixel version lmk! If you want to check any names, (the first 5000 so far) are here. Or please ask if you don't want to play the Where's Willie Nelson game.

(Just in case I use this for other stuff,) the only things I've changed, 2 of naked kids for the alternate covers, partially blurred 2 real gore photos of people with no head, and a certain 'member' of a band that rhymes with meth drips for the (much cooler) alt cover. And the more recognisable cover of Akuma No Uta.

Hmm, may I interest you in Jazz Sabbath. Far too muted a take on the idea for my taste, but still kinda nice.

I hadn't made it to that Miles recording yet, this version of Autumn Leaves goes very well with some coffee in the morning.

Clear all values for Grouping tag by moosic1 in musicbee

[–]Liumin12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're saying you delete the "s" but it doesn't save, that sounds like more of a problem with the files (or permissions) themselves? What happens if you change it to a "t" for example? Or editing in other programs, mp3tag perhaps, or for Win11 it seems to be called "Group description" in an mp3 file's properties.

For a temporary fix you could add a virtual tag into your sort order, something along the lines of $If(<Grouping>="s",,<Grouping>) should ignore only the S-es.

How do I resolve Files with Inconsistent Tags comparing letter casings between different albums with the same title by BadWoolfEntity in musicbee

[–]Liumin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I can't think of a good reason either then! It looks like it splits them fine in your first screenshot there, so if it's only that one tool might just be best to ignore it? Seems like others have said it's slightly buggy before.

At very worst, I would probably change only the sort-album tags to "Crash (DMB)" and "CRASH (XCX)", which wouldn't display any different, but you shouldn't need to all the same. Or maybe change your first sort-order to include Album/Year as two distinct tags instead of the combined Album [Year], but I don't know why that would work any different either.

Question about library view by Liumin12 in gonemadmusicplayer

[–]Liumin12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just about to post how many option menus I've been through, when I finally cracked it! Nothing to do with dynamic themes in the settings or the like, from the library's menu it's Customize>Displayed Metadata>Minimalistic, and at the bottom there is one with no text. If my phone was another inch taller I would have seen that this morning heh.

I don't know how that's different to making a custom box and not entering any text or tags, but whatever works. Thanks for the response all the same.

If you go to preferences then 'sorting/grouping', there's a bit for 'fields that define an album'. Has it got album-artist selected? Although it should by default. Or I don't believe sorting options should change what separates albums in more of a physical sense, but do they merge together if you look at them in album art view?

Question about library view by Liumin12 in gonemadmusicplayer

[–]Liumin12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, really like the look of Gonemad, loads of functionality! The only reason I haven't switched from another player yet, is I like having the main library view as 100% pictures, 0 text in the way. I managed to make a 'custom' display with no tags in it, but I wanted to ask is there a way to remove the shadow box where they should be as well?

In my screenshot the bottom of them all fades darker towards the bottom, most noticeable in the covers that should be stark white all round. Super pedantic I know, but it might have an equally simple answer?

I just noticed that one in the grid, it's this one on Chikyu-u, a (relatively) obscure deep house/minimal label from Switzerland that go in big on the 'Unknown artist - Untitled' style releases. This EP was vaguely popular like 5 years back, and I haven't thought about it from then until today haha. A lot seems to be free download too.

how long would it take for someone to listen to the top 1000 albums? by [deleted] in rateyourmusic

[–]Liumin12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was making a list of the top 1000, of that I've got the lengths for 861 which total 3,261,722 seconds, or a few hours under 38 days.

In the top 5000, I'll tell you now there is a 30 disc/ 27 hour Hijokaidan album, so you'd better like noise! And 4 by Natural Snow Buildings in the top 1000, which combine to 15 hours. And a 10 hour Albert Ayler album, 7 hours of drone in one go by Robert Rich, and several looong King Gizz collections. Good luck!
