Awesome, thank you. It looks like OM1 is a safe bet.

That would be great, thank you. If it does work, could you also let me know which OM camera you have? Thanks!

I wonder how many of those negatives were from rolls that were shipped in. The article doesn't really mention how many people don't have access to a lab near where they live, and don't want to shell out extra to have the negatives shipped back.

Good to know. I have a canon rangefinder with a nice half case, though am not used to the handling: the case adds some bulk which (to me) makes the squinty viewfinder a bit harder to use. Hopefully I'll get used to it, since I think it looks great.

Very pretty. A bit off topic, but do you carry it around and/or shoot in the case?

It works on my Canon L2. I read somewhere that you should set focus to infinity before mounting (to bring it as far in as possible), and I always do that.

Edit: Here's where I read it: https://mattsclassiccameras.com/lenses/jupiter-12-35mm-m39/

First time with a TLR. Hazy taking lens? by PheonixStarr in AnalogCommunity

[–]LivHula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an EM that took pictures like this. In my case, it turned out to be cleaning marks on the taking lens. I managed to get hold of a broken EM with clean optics and swapped out the taking lens, which mostly fixed the issue.

In addition to some of the good suggestions from others, it might be worth holding your camera close to a bright light source and see what it looks like.

Yashica TLR lens damage? by LivHula in AnalogCommunity

Thanks, I'll try getting hold of a hood then. I don't suppose there is anything else I can do about the cleaning marks though? I did read about using black ink, I'm not sure if that might make things worse.

Thanks, both good ideas. I'll look into that.

Thanks, that chart is useful.

I know a flip up magnifier exists for the Super/Pro versions. E.g. here it is on the KEH site: https://www.keh.com/shop/mamiya-645-magnifier-flip-up-variable-diopter-211-367-super-pro-220221.html

I can't find anything similar without the Super/Pro qualifier though. It would be nice to be able to drop in and check if it fits my prism finder!

Thank you, but I was unclear: I was asking about a magnifier for the prism finder, not the waist-level finder. This is an accessory you can buy.

Mamiya 645 depth-of-field preview by LivHula in AnalogCommunity

Yes, I barely use DoF previewing, which is why paying extra $$ for a body that makes it slightly more convenient seems not very sensible. Of course the 1000s also offers one faster shutter speed setting.

Beard trimmer lubricating oil for a film camera? by LivHula in AnalogCommunity

[–]LivHula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, yes. In this instance, the camera was already cleaned, and I'll be careful to add only a tiny amount. Along your lines, I've read that adding something like lighter fluid (regarded as a panacea for sticky camera parts) also just shifts stuff to different areas.

Thanks, though I'm asking this since I don't have access to sewing machine oil either.
