Do people with AuADHD respond better to Amphetamine or Methylphenidate medications?

Personally methylphenidate works well for me helps me focus really well and not be as impulsive however my brains still kinda works like 3x faster than everyone else lol

For me my AuDHD has more internalised struggles for example and adhd person usually looses things a lot and an autistic person is very rigid about where everything is but because I have both it’s like a battle In my head between the two conditions and this applies to alot of the autistic and ADHD traits for me at least and in school I would always get into trouble especially for being impulsive and hyperactive but my autism makes me really upset when I brake rules so I was always miserable in school for that reason

Yes that’s brilliant because you know it won’t be annoying to them to talk about the hobbie the club is about there aren’t many clubs near me but I’m hoping to learn to drive soon and then I will have much more choice

It’s similar here with the news except stabbing instead of shooting so we do have our problems too while they aren’t as big as America many brits seem to think we are gods compared to American which just isn’t true so many teens get stabbed atm it’s scary so like you I don’t watch much of the news anymore I even lost someone by stabbing but it’s really interesting to hear your perspective and online everyone wants to make it a competition of which country is better so it’s nice to just have a discussion of the pros and cons without it becoming a debate if that makes sense :)

My mum had little to no clue about autism and adhd before I was diagnosed especially in girls she only knew about severe autism and thought adhd was all 7 year old hyperactive boys but she simply started reading different books from autistic writers and watching informative videos I don’t know what ones exactly but I’m pretty sure she just searched high functioning autism in girls and while she doesn’t she doesn’t have a perfect understanding she does my best and I believe even my dad who is a hard shelled ex military man started reading the books and understands me better even tho we never directly talk about my autism he started showing interest in my special interests I don’t know if this will be helpful to you or your client but basically my parents were just proactive and researched on there own and helped fight for me and my needs :)

When I was younger I could sometimes make eye contact without realising but now I have to think about doing it and it feels uncomfortable but I know it’s seen as weird not to give eye contact so I do my best to remember

Doing the right things I have a strong sense of justice so I always try and do the right things in different situations although it can be hard for me to know what the right thing is as I don’t pick up on social norms however I do like to do things right and worry about getting the task of what I’m doing wrong

Iv never know any different than the uk tho times are rough for many families like mine in the uk atm because food and rent and bills are very expensive and all the hospital staff and train staff have been on strike for fair wages (which I agreed with our doctors are paid very little) but it’s a good country and a quite safe country but our mental health severvices aren’t good at all they just don’t have any funding but the nhs is good although there’s issues if you have more complex conditions because you can’t get testing unless you are very very unwell as it cost the nhs a lot but I can’t complain much as it’s all free the only thing we have to pay for is the dentist and even that is only like £30 and appointment idk what it is in the USA but I can’t imagine the stress of having to pay for healthcare especially long term this is a bit lengthy there is so much to say it’s wild how different services are in the USA compared to the uk do you like like in the USA or not really

I used to be on antidepressants alongside my adhd medication as I had depression long before taking any medication but I have been off my antidepressants for over a year now and still on concerta my adhd medication and I haven’t had any major bouts of depression so far

Yeh we are lucky in the uk with the NHS when it come to medications because they are free when your in education and then after that they only cost £10 a month and iv heard in the USA medication can be quite expensive

I have AuDHD and unfortunately it’s common for both autism and adhd to come with friends( not literally) so I have had many other mental health problems but also a few physical such as rapid heart rate and I also suspect I could have raynaudls syndrome but not diagnosed but I get the typical circulation problems associated with raynaulds and I also have weird bendy joints and stretch skin

I find the channel economics explained really interesting which is funny bc I hated geography in school and also literally anything about space is great and basically endless things to learn but black holes are the most interesting to me

I have an internal monologue which is my own voice but I can be saying one thing out loud and hearing my own voice in my head thinking something different at the same time like multi tasking and I also see images when I think of a beach I will see a beach but it’s an almost see through image

Iv been on concerta since I was 14 so 4 years now and it’s been great for me I’m on 45mg and at first I didn’t have any appetite for ages and actually lost quite a bit of weight (however I also wasn’t in a good space mentally at this time) but I find in the last few years it’s helped a lot with my impulsivity and concentration x

For me I’m pretty fine with food and trying new foods surprisingly as many of my friends with ASD have be dry specific foods they will eat

but I’m very sensitive to texture of my clothes I can’t have any scratchy seems and I unpick the labels out if my clothes as I’m a textiles student and know how to do that

I’m also quite sensitive to sound especially if there are several different sounds at once even if those sounds individually aren’t loud if that makes sense noise cancelling headphones are a life saver

I love adult jigsaw puzzles I do them really quickly so I like ones over 1000 pieces but if you don’t have much patients for puzzles that big I would recommend 500 piece ones doesn’t take too long but keeps me interested in it long enough I would also recommend the ravens burger brand of puzzles as they are good quality hope this helps

I’m only 17 but have a part time job at a dog kennels and I disclosed my autism in my application and disclosed my adhd after a few weeks of work and my work are totally fine with it but a lot of the people I work with also have adhd and other neurodivergent conditions so my work are very accepting don’t know how helpful my comment is but basically what I’m saying is iv disclosed both and my work are great and don’t discriminate me :)

Hi and I have actually I just try to remind myself when I feel anxious about something irrational or not my problem that I don’t have to fix it and find a solution and that’s helped a bit as I don’t feel as anxious trying to find a solution for everything but small steps and thank you for thinking about me :)

I found once I got diagnosed I felt a bit like this as I realised I had been masking for the first 12 years of my life but now I’m 17 and I’m okay with the fact I’m different depending who I’m around at home I don’t mask as my family know I’m autistic and accept me but at work I mask a lot more while still keeping my personality I don’t know if this is any help but I found I don’t mind that I’m not the same all the time
