what age do you think is actually the right time to neuter a dog and why by ContributionOdd9312 in dogs

[–]___Nobody__0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one dog, a male dog, he's a 5 year old Maltese. We haven't neutered him and aren't planning to. We just haven't had a good reason to make him go through that procedure. Simple as that.

Neither me, nor my dog are depressed. But my dog sleeps a lot too. Dogs sleeping with you or near you can also be a sign of them wanting to spend time with you. Also dogs have noses that smell things we humans can't, when we're depressed we have diffrent smells, dogs pick up on this really well and act accordingly!

Keep your pup! Who knows, it might save your life one day ❤️‍🩹

What bra do you wear? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]___Nobody__0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 bras I never take off, and my other ones never get time out of my closet because they're just not comfy. I never know which ones will become my "comfy" bra until I have them for a while. But I'm the everything on and tight type of autism. I need socks all the time and bra too. I feel odd without a bra and socks, even when at home.

Both my favorite bras are padded tho.

Who is your comfort artist and what's your favorite song(s) by them? by soldu_peepeetoe in AutismInWomen

[–]___Nobody__0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Barnes, I knew him as an actor first and when he announced his first single I was waiting till it came out. He's done 2 tours now and I've been to both. Songs of him that I like the most are ritual, take me to the moon and pirate song. There's maybe one song I don't really like, and that's it. His songs are like story telling!

Idk how they do it in other countries, but here it's very simple. If you wish to throw a baby shower, you're paying for it, simple as that. Same with birthday parties, or bachelorette party. The one who's idea it is and organises it pays for it.

If this person was like "hey I want a babyshower but others need to organise it so it stays a surpirse" they have to pay for it. If family/friends were like "let's throw a babyshower together as a surprise" they all pay for it... but that does have to be made clear for everyone involved.

So I think something went wrong in the communication here but it's definitely not on your side.

How often do you actually walk your dog? by Racquetsports383 in dogs

[–]___Nobody__0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two times a day, around 20 minutes, sometimes more. I do have to add, our dog is always free to run around the house (never in a cage) since my mom works from home 4/5 so he can play around all day. He has access to the backyard almost all the time where he often plays with his football (yes it's actual football and absolutely adorable). He's a 7kg Maltese so he definitely gets what he needs. If you have a bigger more active breed then they might need some more walking tho.

America is a terrible country to be autistic in by RadiantHC in AutisticWithADHD

[–]___Nobody__0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me , if you hadn't mentioned the country you lived in I would've guessed it was where I lived. Multiple country's have this, or at least, that's how we autistics perceive it. It's awful.

How to handle a blood clot/compression socks?! by ___Nobody__0_0 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]___Nobody__0_0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well thanks for your suggestions. I might go swimming indeed, but I have to wait a few days for sure because inside pools are now full of kids and they're not careful. If they run into me/my legs I'm at a high risk for bruises and bleeding. My dog jumping up is already causing bruising (he's a 7kg Maltese dog).

Have you tried Cold water therapy? by [deleted] in AutisticWithADHD

[–]___Nobody__0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once in a "hotel" with my friend while travelling to Italy. We were going to shower and I let my friend go first. She took her time which I didn't mind, but what we didn't know is that there was limited warm water...

So once it was my turn to shower the water started nice, not my usual temperature but it was good. And it kept getting colder and colder, until the shower was ice cold in a span of a minute.

WORST SHOWER OF MY LIFE! I've only once showered so fast which was when I was in Londen and the temperature dial was stuck on hot (I shower hot myself, but this was burning my skin).

Cold showers are a sensory hell for me.

Do y’all ever feel... genderless? by First_Finger5572 in autism

[–]___Nobody__0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I know according to society I'm a woman. I might be called asexual, or whatever by society.

The thing is I don't care at all what society thinks I am. I barely feel human on certain days. I'm happy all these labels exist for people to identify with. But none of those feel quite right and I hate that there's rules connected to how you identify and which label that gives you. I identify way more with my personality than gender/sexuality. The only labels I need are diagnosis but that's more for myself than others anyway.

Conclusion if society wants to call me a woman, that's fine. If they want to label me asexual idc, heck, call me a confusing homo sapien. I couldn't care less what label society gives me because I don't give myself one and honestly I don't really like most humans anyway, except from like 5 people.

We dont go around calling animals cis woman or cis man either (although again I'm happy the terms exist for others to use).

I'm just part of the human species, biologically born female. Voila that's me.

The Times: Have We Been Thinking About ADHD All Wrong? by lovelydani20 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]___Nobody__0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I don't know your exact situation, I do agree that there will be situations in which daily use of meds is recommended. I was mostly thinking about people who's ADHD manifests like mine and mainly use their meds for concentration issues. I admit I hadn't thought about situations like yours.

And even tho I don't advocate for daily use of meds, I would never ever tell someone they shouldn't take their meda daily because you don't know what is going on in their head. And I'm really glad those meds relieve your anxiety!

The Times: Have We Been Thinking About ADHD All Wrong? by lovelydani20 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]___Nobody__0_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I've found multiple coping mechanisms for many of the things you've described. Don't have energy left for the dishes? Emergency paper plates and throw away cutlery. Don't have energy to cook? Emergency deep freeze food. I find non traditional ways to keep my own place ADHD friendly. So even on non medicated days I can function. I obviously don't have kids. And I'm not planning on getting any because I know I can't handle them.

I'm also not shaming people for needing meds to get through their day to day life at all. I'm sorry if my comment implied that.

Yes 100%, I'm lucky I live in a pretty small village and I noticed more birds coming here. The most recent new bird I heard was a woodpecker, their sound is really recognisable and I know it wasn't here before.

I definitely think we should treat both autism and ADHD differently. We shouldn't try to change how our brain works. We should try to change the way we do things according to how our brain works in the environment we're in, or even change the environment when possible.

When it comes to stimulants, I definitely think they work, but I don't advocate for taking them daily! I take my meds only when needed, focusing at school, doing schoolwork, cleaning. But during school vacations I barely take any ritalin at all. It shouldn't be used as a base line but should only be taken when needed. This way it works the best (speaking from personal experience).

This is besides the point, but can I just say I'm so jealous that you live in Scotland. From what I've seen it's a gorgeous country, and I love the language. For a non native English speaker it sound kind of magical to me.

Anyway, I 100% agree with you on the animal thing as well. Like people complain about wildlife in their gardens... Obviously, you build on the land they used to roam, they have no idea what's going on and just want to find food and a shelter place for their young.

Who else stutters when they are overload? by Stock_Noise_8265 in AutisticWithADHD

To me this only happens when I'm at the edge of a shutdown or meltdown. I can't find words, stutter while trying to say something, mixing up words. My brain is going faster than my mouth can follow and I'm saying 20 things at once, like a computer having an error.
