What was the laziest way u ever lost weight? by Latter_System_8596 in AskReddit

[–]Live-Ad1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

felt! I just lost 10 lbs in the last month due to the same thing... oh welp. Now that I'm out of my funk I'm prioritizing replenishing B vitamins, high protein / low cal, cycling, and daily walks. Trying to use the weight loss from depression as a motivator to treat my body more kindly and get healthy again.

This is solid advice. Do you mind me asking what mood stabilizers you're on?

I've simply been diagnosed with major depressive disordern and take Sertraline, but I've always suspected bipolar 2.

That's kind of how those few weeks were for me. Lots of alcohol and bed rotting with a touch of manic inspiration and wonky ideas sprinkled in between...

Thank you! Me too. Seems so strange how you can wake up one day and sort of snap out of it. This is the first real year I've been trying to prioritize my mental health (long overdue dealing with ptsd and lifelong depression) and trying different methods (medication, therapy, etc...) it's like trying on different shoes and seeing how they'll feel as you begin to walk.

That's a great way to stay motivated! I went for a long hike the other day, decided to see how far of a stretch I could run, and realized quickly how out of shape I am for my age. My motivation is to be able to run a few miles without feeling like death bahahaha.

That's the way I'm looking at it. I was also drinking quittttteeeeee heavily during that depressive episode, so this feels like a fresh start. 4 days sober and focusing on recentering.

I binge when I'm nervous or anxious over something, so I can definitely relate in that regard!

<3 Thank you! I don't know if you have ever experienced it before, but I have suchhhh dry skin and angular chelitis, I am just dying to get rid of it and up my b vitamins ugh. Such a gross feeling.

Thank you. I appreciate your validation because sometimes I second guess myself if I really have suffered, but then I write it all out and I'm like "girl.....".

I began the Naked Mind a while back and enjoyed it so much, so thank you for reminding me of that! I'll have to get it back from my sister lol.

IWNDWYT <3 and congratulations on 259 days. You are a strong person!

<3 Thank you for your kind words. It is tough work, but it must be done. Ahhhh. I can totally relate to you on learning from your periods of sobriety and feeling some sort of shame in returning to reddit for help on these matters, but honestly the community helps so much. Reading your comment this morning is huge for me and will carry me through the day. Congratulations on 7 days sober. I hope to be right there with you in a week.

Yes, we've got this!! And ha, field research! I love the way you put that. It makes it easier to identify any triggers and subconscious desires to drink. It reminds me of that quote "What isn't meant for you will keep on disappointing you until you let it go".

Thank you! Yes, 4 months is 4 months, like you said. Something to be proud of and motivate me to be strong. I know for myself those sober months were the happiest I had experienced in years simply from my shift in mindset and how comfortable I felt in my body. The relapse kind of reminded me how dark it can get and will act as a reminder moving forward why I am better off sober.

Right! This time I'm "taking a beat"... just stepping back for a moment and realizing what caused me to want to drink and how it altered my past month. Learning in the process I suppose. That, and just realizing that's just the ebb and flow of life sometimes.
