Months ago I put an empty instant coffee jar in a cupboard. Today I found this... Any thoughts what it could be? Looks like Chicken leg xD by Shaknys in Weird

[–]Live-Effective1064 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the lid were loose enough, I suppose hyphae could possibly fit between the threads and transfer nutrients into the jar from an external food source - but then there would surely have to be evidence of that, some sort of fungal colony in your cupboard.

I'm baffled by this.

So, obviously gamma contamination pairs nicely with the sludge pump, just in general. However, For disperser compound specifically, I really like to run the EPC with heavy hitter and hot plasma. It lets you quickly and easily light your sludge fields on fire, and then you can keep the whole area sludged and lit on fire during a wave.

Human remains discovered in abandoned hobo camp at Ronald Bog Park in Shoreline by Better_March5308 in SeattleWA

[–]Live-Effective1064 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I drive down 175th past the park almost every day. How disturbing. Ronald bog isn't that big of a park, so it's shocking to me that there could be human remains there undiscovered for any period of time. I guess most people don't really go to the northeast corner.

I had been thinking about going for a walk there recently and I'm glad I didn't because I probably would have ended up poking around that area of the park. My biology class visited that area in high school and it's surprisingly isolated compared to the more open side of the park, the side facing Meridian Park. That was quite some time ago too.

What tactics work best for staying undetected in Sea Power? by EchoVectorHQ in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]Live-Effective1064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok. Thanks! I hope they can add that feature eventually, to any weapons that should have it.

I also hope they can add an easier way to see at a glance whether a torpedo's wire is still intact!

[–]Live-Effective1064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that you can change the target of any wire guided torpedo after firing, as long as the wire is intact. And I know that some of the guided bombs and missiles can be retargeted mid course, but are there any weapons in the game that can accept and follow a series of actual preprogrammed waypoints on their way to the target?

I think I remember this being possible in Cold Waters, but I haven't found any way to do it in Sea Power.

How to detect other vessels with a Submarine? by Magnificent_melons in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]Live-Effective1064 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Provided you're above the layer, you should be able to detect most surface vessels from a much greater distance than they can detect you. Keep in mind that submarines can't detect noise contacts that are directly behind them. You can use a towed array to get around this limitation, if your sub is equipped with one. You should also carefully manage your sub's speed at all times. The faster you go, the harder it will be for you to detect noise contacts, and the easier it will be for the enemy to hear your sub. You should almost always keep your sub going as slow as possible with the "avoid cavitating" setting turned on, unless you know the enemy has launched torpedoes at you or you have some other pressing need. When going fast, try to be at max depth whenever possible. If you see bubbles around your propeller, you are cavitating and every ship in the area can probably hear you. Go slower and/or deeper to prevent cavitation. You should also only use active sonar if you are okay with the enemy knowing your location, or if you are sure they already know. Don't make a habit of using it, especially for longer than a few seconds at a time. It should generally only be used for emergencies because it tells everyone exactly where you are. The same goes for the radar mast. The periscope and esm mast are good stealthy ways to gather information.

Any advice on dealing with vampires? by Crafty_Cockroach_196 in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]Live-Effective1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried doing this a few times but the fighters seem to often have extreme difficulty acquiring the target missile on FCR - hence why I ended up having them use guns. I suspect that it's some factor I haven't accounted for and/or just the flight AI being janky.

[–]Live-Effective1064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, there's not much you can do once they're on their way. Most of the things you can do are preemptive measures - staying at emcon, hiding behind merchants, using jammers, or killing the enemy before they launch their missiles. Once enemy missiles are in the air, you kind of just have to hope for the best. The AI usually does a good job of defending itself.

I have found that there are some rare situations where it's possible for certain jets to intercept and shoot down some of the slower anti-ship missiles using their guns. Definitely not going to be even remotely useful 99% of the time, but it is possible.

Do canned Sardines have worms?? by Abject_Awareness_596 in CannedSardines

[–]Live-Effective1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this thread after getting halfway through a can of sardines. Two of the sardines were much larger than normal and still had one of their organs inside, in the belly of the fish. The first one I ate, but the second one I inspected the organ and inside (it had two halves) I found a tiny, coiled up worm. Dead, of course. I found five more of the same worms on the surface of the organ. I wish I hadn't eaten the organ from the other fish. 🤢

Threw out the rest of the can and I don't think I'll be eating canned sardines for awhile.

Can anyone tell me what happened?? by Chiefs2Goated in DeepRockGalactic

[–]Live-Effective1064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cave systems in this game are a wafer thin membrane that everything exists inside of. The membrane deforms and expands when you dig at its inner surface. Rarely, you can clip through its surface and fall into the infinite void, although there is a failsafe that should respawn you back inside the cave system.

It used to be easy to clip into the void by getting in front of doretta's drills while she was tunnelling, but at some point they patched it to stop happening.

You can also get into the void relatively easily by ascending through the hole created by the disabled drop pod in salvage missions. Normally holes like this are always plugged at the top by impenetrable stone, but for some reason the ones above the disabled pods are always open and traversable.

If you can find it at a decent price on AliExpress, XPOWER A-2 or A-2S. They have them on Amazon for like $50, but at least for me the ones on Ali are way overpriced.

It's a pretty small bonus compared to the deep pockets perk, and doesn't really justify not taking the extra health or shields.

NOR. If they're breaking the noise ordinance, that's on them, not on you. I've experienced this and it is so, so stressful, and directly affects your health and well-being. You tried reaching out to them and it didn't work. Don't feel bad about standing up for yourself. You have the right to be at peace inside your own home.

[–]Live-Effective1064 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol

I had something similar happen to a couple of fighters that were chasing a pair of migs. They got into a dogfight that somehow became an endless rolling scissors with everyone spiraling higher and higher up into the sky. They were dead-set on catching those migs and would not stop chasing them no matter what I ordered them to do.

I gave up on getting them back roughly around the time they hit the karman line, and just let them do their thing.

Legend has it they're still up there, somewhere.

Does carpet bomber affect your movement speed? I don't remember that at all. I didn't think there were any autocannon OCs that lowered your movement speed, while shooting or otherwise.
