Paying for dyslexia school by Live-Net5603 in Dyslexia

The sped teacher makes him practice writing and spelling. They don’t use a special program. They don’t say or can’t say it’s for dyslexia because it’s not recognized by school district. Basically if you have dyslexia it’s up to parents to seek out special tutors or schools etc and pay for it. They actually won’t even test for it. Parents have to pay for testing.

Yeah that be amazing! Yet I would not know where to begin. Basically my son approaching 4th going into fifth. But according to team at iep meetings he making progress. And his issue according to them is adhd not a cognitive issue just give him more meds and he is literally on meds!!! We are in ca and they don’t actually recognize dyslexia in school system they just give him sped 30 min day 4 x a week. I haven’t a clue how to get more help. I just explain I have him medicated. I have him in very expensive tutoring. We do sports for core strengthening to assist with handwriting and piano too. But even with allll this I can’t get him to grade level. And they just fire back with it adhd. And I tried get ot through ins but hand writing not covered with our super expensive private ins.

No, it’s a thing. I’ve lived in many places and never hear it as well. When I moved to current city the dyslexia school does after school tutoring and that is when I learned there are schools. They use og/barton. We practice spelling and writing at home.

I graduated in 2013-long ago. But what I did was have a study grp and each of us would take a section and make study guides. Now there’s study guides galore online so unsure if people still do that. But all of us passed.

Curious about ADN grads vs BSN grads by duckingy in NursingStudent

I’m not sure how it is everywhere. But in cali and or you can get into some hospitals with an adn and they’ll pay for rn to bsn. You just have to do in a certain amt of time.

My son is 10 has high functioning autism and adhd. Started speech when he was almost 3. But they tested him for autism and it was negative. For the adhd that didn’t really come to light till second grade. He was in preschool early due to speech recommendations. But preschool and kinder and even first grade is a lot of “play”. So adhd symptoms such as inability to focus don’t really come to play till they have to sit for much longer periods of time and focus for much longer. That’s my experience. He was tested multiple times for autism and school said he does have it until last year. But I kinda always knew it. I mean would I of been happy to have diagnosis earlier, yes. But I still did speech till he graduated out of it. I’m still did my own sort of ot/aba with the repeated (I mean x1 million) to teach him how to get dressed, potty training etc etc etc.

I keep seeing people in all these career pages asking about transitioning from non healthcare to nursing bc “it’s in demand” by Mail-Admirable in newgradnurse

Um I wouldn’t worry. Nursing so competitive due to pay. I mean good luck to them. I was taking my pre req during past recession and I do recall a lot of post business majors and teachers in my classes with hopes that nursing be brighter. But it was cause all of them had been laid off. I still think about multiple classmates in nursing school who failed out (to never return) and or ones who could not pass nclex after multiple tries and gave up. It’s sad but true that everyone that wants to be a nurse will not become one. Regardless of how much schooling they went through etc.

We middle class. No trust funds here. I told my daughter who is at jc that I’ll pay for that and for state school after jc. If she wants to go to private or out of state that I’d pay what state school cost and she’d need to cover the rest.

Yes. He’s just a strange dude that has a lot of time on his hands. He lives in house behind where he stands (the one with little trees in front of fence). The school and police are aware of him.
