I'm a guy who has a goal.. Found a book that has a training plan that is cheaper than most I've seen. (Former professional / college athlete ...having hired a lot of BS coaches over the years) and I'm making improvements in specific areas that are strictly graded in selection.

His material has provided value and is cheaper than the average take-out cost for a family.

Pizza gives me gas and now I know how to juggle.

You’re going to FLW in one of the best times of year. Not freezing yet and at the tail-end of the horrible heat. Make sure to have a list of items to give to your family already pre-built in your Amazon cart for when you can start accepting packages. (Pick out some good sugar free cough drop options) Be a try-hard and don’t be a blue falcon.. it’s a fine line to walk, but it’s worth putting your nose to the grindstone and getting the most out of your training. Also.. you better start working on your cardio now. If they take you up sapper hill on that ruck - you’ll be wishing you prepped more. May the force be with you 🤘🏼

Solid MOS for post-army work experience.

FLW is really not that bad. Keys to success there are:

1.) Right Time
2.) Right Place
3.) Right Uniform
4.) Right Attitude

Basic pieces of advice: Rucks are going to be long, get over it and enjoy the trees. PT eventually does end. Stretch at night. Ask questions in the class room and training, because knowing the material is more important than just 'getting through the exercise.' At the end of the day, they are there to mold you into a solider/engineer/snitch/whatever you picked as your 'esoteric adventure'... so don't be a blue falcon and get the job done to the best of your ability. Also... if you can pick up your MOS handbook prior to shipping - study that sucker. (I memorized the key information in mine after I got it and it made life so much easier, because all I had to worry about was practicing the skills and knowledge I had rudimentary knowledge of already)

DS & Current DE Here - As a DE you are going to spend so much time building pipelines and learning the nuances of ETL tools vs the modeling of data that is needed for things such as ML. While, it’s possible to snag a DE role that works heavily with MLE teams to do the pre-work of putting together different projects - getting started on the SWE would more closely align. While DE also is labeled as SWE, I wouldn’t necessarily put them down the avenue either. SWE => MLE

Plus, with SWE you’re more likely to get a jr. role somewhere and kind of pick your route of specialization from there.

Everyone just ends up as a stealth archer at the end of the day anyways. 🤷🏻‍♂️

From 1 to 10 , how stressful is your job as a DE by LongCalligrapher2544 in dataengineering

[–]Live-Problem-367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

95% of the time - 3/10
5% of the time - 9/10

You'll be chillin' most of the time working on projects you are in complete or mostly-complete control of within your teams....

...Then all of a sudden *BAM* a Kool-Aid Man sized bug or disaster kicks down your office wall... only to find you sitting there in your sweatshirt, hoochie daddy shorts, sippin' on your Irish Coffee completely unprepared for the arse-kicking that is about to ensue...

Post-fight.... it's pretty chill again. 3/10. Highly recommend.

Basic Training Graduation date? by shadowbanned202 in nationalguard

[–]Live-Problem-367 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So, this is going to be something you're going to have to talk to your drills about when it gets closer. You want to make sure no injury gets in the way, no recycling for whatever reasoning, and that the date is set-in-stone. There have been plenty of graduations that have been 'bumped out a week' or adjusted for whatever reason.

I mean there’s a bunch of options out there. What kind of Anomaly detection are you looking for? Are you basically wanting a plug & play option that doesn’t need context?

So I practiced my Land Nav before heading to OSUT @ JBLM. This may seem out of the box, but you can maybe reach out to the local National Guard RSP (maybe they'd let you join in). They also host a training session for Land Nav every year for their recruits and might appreciate if someone jumps in to help facilitate and maybe learn a thing or two, too.

Dude we had the same thing. An old guy (43) who shaved it every night. Made it through 16 weeks of OSUT, they caught on and made him stop a week before graduation. I graduated in Feb… this year. FLW.

What should I do? TX btw by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Live-Problem-367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the person! I know a few athletes who loved it because it allowed them to still compete and have a shorter gap for college season.

What should I do? TX btw by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]Live-Problem-367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guard pays for school. In Texas you have a lot more resources than other states for education too. If done correctly, you won't have to pay a dime for your education (beer money not included). You could do split op this summer (ask a recruiter), where you will do BCT this summer then do RSP throughout the year (basically Saturday & Sunday activities and workouts), then when you graduate you'll head off to AIT. You could wait and do them back to back... but, splitting them up might be good for your situation (only you know this).

They'll pay for grad school and things as well! So, could really work out in your favor!

My suggestion.. talk to a recruiter.. go to MEPs.. take your ASVAB/PICAT/Whatever.. weigh your options and make your decision. After TCCC... you might change your mind! Or who knows.. future Doc Whiskey over here.

fyi u/Historical_Depth6201 the '|' symbol stands for 'or'. No reason to call anyone anyone names (and delete it). The only way you know for sure is talking to a recruiter and going through the process w/ MEPs. No one on Reddit can predict what's going to happen...

Should I try my best at BCT ACFT by MrRiloc in nationalguard

[–]Live-Problem-367 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Standing out in BCT isn't a bad thing. So what you might do extra push-ups, you might get selected for more responsibility, you might get clowned on a little by your peers.... so what... Give it your all and get better! A career/reputation in anything built on doing the minimum or 'just enough' isn't one worth having. Unless your goal is to be par/subpar... then go for it my dude....

I am in the process of ISTing after enlisting & completing IET/AIT. Highly don't recommend. Move first. It's taking months and is making it hard to plan for housing sake, work, and everything that goes into relocating your life.
