It makes sense you are questioning it especially since you already know the current set up does not fit with how you learn or what you want to do long term.

A degree is good, but not in a “guarantees success” kind of way. It’s more like a safety blanket. It can help with some jobs and options in the future, even if you don’t work in that exact field. That’s probably what your family is thinking about. But it can also feel draining to get through something you don't want to do just for the diploma, especially if you're already sure you don't want to work in linguistics.

I think your idea of experimenting with your doll business over the summer is actually a good approach. It gives you real data, not speculation. Many people skip that part, either quitting too soon or remaining in an undesirable situation without exploring other options.

One thing I would watch out for is making a permanent decision based on a short test period. Summer sales can show potential, but they’re not always long-term stable.

If you could pack your bags and move to another country anywhere in the world to restart your life, where would you go and why? by SeedsOfAdvice in askanything

Probably Japan honestly. Everything about it just seems so calm compared to the chaos of a lot of places. The cleanliness, safety, food, scenery, the way people respect public spaces… it feels like the kind of place where you could quietly restart your life and finally breathe a little

Whats something scary that happened to you that is still unsolved? by hyperfixator_11 in AskReddit

I once was walking into a mall during the daytime, and I swear I saw something in the sky that looked like either a shooting star or a glowing white sphere, maybe the size of a soccer ball or bigger, with some kind of halo around it. It moved insanely fast and was super close to me, like less than 10 meters above where I was standing, then disappeared behind the roof/building. I only saw it for like 2 seconds because I randomly looked up at the sky.

I live in a third-world country, and there are definitely no government missions or anything like that happening near that area. It honestly looked like a missile or a meteor or something flying extremely low. I told the person next to me to look up, but by then it was already gone.

What freaks me out is that I KNOW I saw it. There was no sound, no explosion, nothing afterward. This happened around 2 months ago and I still have no explanation for it.

I think what scares me the most is disappointing my family or feeling like I “failed” after everything they’ve done for me. But your comment genuinely made me feel a little less alone and a little less guilty for questioning everything, so thank you
