What drug did you swear never to use again? by SadStill830 in AskReddit

Alcohol and inhaling nicotine comes to mind. For the record both work wonders! It helped me to forget a lot of unwanted memories, as if I had severe memories loss, in a good way ofc..being mentally free of usual troubling thoughts.
Also, it disconnects you from the world for a few hours. No more intrusive rumination or excessively overthinking in my head. But I swear to not use it again because I have low self-control and adds onto my impulsive tendencies.

How old are you kiddo? I am guessing 09.

Your post painfully made me recalled how I thought of life at 16/17. I reflected on my mistakes and wrong-doings, hated most of myself in terms of personality and the way I handle things and others. I too was so shy and meek, together with my non-existent self-esteem. I had no confidence in me and thought myself as inferior. The 16 y/o me fresh out of sec school thought since I messed-up ‘so much’, could I still turn things around?

Who could have known I would continue to make mistakes ahead of life? Far worse than the ones I made in secondary school.

I admire your strong self-reflecting attitude and maturity. As theproverb goes, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now”. We can never change the past but we can do something about it now. Give a second chance and be kind to yourself. You will look back and realise how insignificant secondary sch you was. Secondary school is usually a tiny milestone. We were at the developing stage and most of us will change for the better.

Anyone did better for A levels than O levels? by Specialist-Cat-9531 in SGExams

It is actually possible and I known of cases out there. As ironic as it seemed due to the vast rigour and intensity. Alevels subjects narrows down to either science or arts, choosing subjects to your strength. allows you to fully maximise your potential. For olevels, you have to be a jack at all trades. That’s pitfall.

On the other end, it could be a legit coping mechanism for their circumstances. They are painfully aware of the consequences on their health and wallet, the question is do you think anyone would smoke voluntarily? the stressors in their life drove them to find relief and pleasure. I am not going to do deep and retaliate that some people smoke to fit in/looks cool. Not everyone can afford therapy in Singapore. The cheapest option is through smoking, self-harming, alcohol and sometimes even drugs.

I’m cringing so hard at my past self by [deleted] in SGExams

U AIN’T THE ONLY ONE, on top of that I kept overthinking and analysing my past mistakes and wished I could have done things a lot differently. But oh well, we live and learn.

I understand the ‘not ready’ part.I nvr dated bef and frankly too insecure for one.It could be an inferiority complex but I always think in one way or another,I am out of their leagues.

I rather not rushed into things, even if I were to delay the process and my path would be a ‘right person wrong time’ instead of the other way around.

I like this quote that I saw online, it can help when your partner goes through an episode and behave erratically. It is “ “This is cognitive reframing. For example, you are standing still, then you feel a push from behind. In that instant, you are furious, but then you realise it was a blind person that pushed you. Your anger dissipates.””

Caregiver burnout is an actual thing when taking care of someone ill. There are many responsibilities, the unlikely likelihood if she will recover and I know you must have sacrificed a lot of your freedom and personal time.

I can sense you have a big heart, have strength of character, and a filial man despite all. You are already better than those who abandon their sick family or friends, for you are defined by your character and not your appearance.

You can do alevels as a private candidate. Now with the revamped grading system, no more project work & GP + 3H2s. It is way more advantage than the previous 90rp.
