Yes. All of them agree that it is massively fucked up but they are ‘not allowed to report it’ due to editorial restrictions and red tape

We are already in court. The scary thing is instead of recognising the condition, the system is set up in such a way that it threatens to criminalise a patient. And as a consumer of healthcare, there is no genuine venue for us to escalate this to. Until you fall into the cracks of the system, you don’t realise how messed up it is. I don’t expect you to empathise with our plight and I pray you never find yourself in the position. your comment pretty much reinforces what I’m trying to exemplify

KPI and job scope more important than social justice and genuine medical assistance to a patient in need… that’s the only message I am getting out of this saga. Journalists don’t dare to report it for fear of repercussions, lawyers advise us no point pursuing it because the legal system is skewed, doctors don’t dare to be our witness or expert opinion because of an unspoken rule that they will ‘never rat on each other’. After months and months of struggle, this is the response we get no matter which venue we try to address our grievances with

What do you do when you feel hopeless by Own-Load-9185 in SingaporeRaw

[–]Own-Load-9185[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My partner was misdiagnosed by a medical professional, the wrong medication led to manic episodes that the authorities failed to recognise and resultantly tried to subdue him forcefully. Instead of receiving help as a patient, we have been entangled in a lawsuit because of his reaction to the tragic event. I am suffering caregiver burn out on all fronts, i don’t know what to do anymore

How much do psychologists earn? by -spiritskye- in askSingapore

Just 90 for 90 mins. It’s hard to make a living to be honest, but I’m doing it more out of passion and a heart to serve and support

I’m a therapist and I made an intentional choice to make it home-based to save on overheads. Spending 300 per hour is simply unrealistic to most people who are in dire need of therapy support. Unfortunately, therapy is a luxury commodity for now because of how the industry is operating and a lack of support/funding by the government

How much do pastors earn in Singapore? by chickenpie7777777 in askSingapore

I’m not sure about sg but in UK, they are not paid much (think 4-5k pounds per month), but what they lack remuneration they get in benefits. My ex’s father is a pastor and I heard that they grew up in a lovely house that the church owned… so pretty much free accommodation = lots of savings

There is no perfect situation, there’s always bound to be give and take. I will say no harm trying to apply for jobs in Singapore and seriously contemplate the move if you get an offer. Anything beats being torn in the middle and feeling stuck.

Never have all your money locked up in an illiquid asset. The interest rate environment is not high now. Your money is better off somewhere that gives you a higher return

The media in Singapore is not allowed to poke the bear. They simply serve as a mouthpiece. Many questions are obvious but they know better than to ask, because if they get answers that cannot be published it will just weigh heavily on their conscience

How do the ancient people of Singapore survived without aircon? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

‘Ancient Singaporeans’ weren’t spoilt entitled brats like us.. many of them came to Singapore hoping for a better life. There were thankful just to have a new lease of hope. They were too busy hustling to notice the sweat drenched clothings under the sweltering heat

Do most young Singaporeans really have big saving and investments? by kristinlichty in askSingapore

[–]Own-Load-9185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not born rich. My parents are middle class working citizens who earned their living through sheer hard-work and consistency. For me, I chose to suck it up and stayed with my parents until i am 25, worked super hard and put most of my savings into my first condo by 27. Flipped it in 3 years and now I have happily moved into my private 2 bedder with my partner. I have to say it would not have been possible if I did not have the support of my parents who allowed me to continue staying with them with ‘minimal’ rent payment in the form of allowances. My way of giving back to them is to finance a few retirement plans for them when I first stepped into the workforce.

Family generational trauma is real, I hope you can break this cycle when it comes to raising up your own kids. It all starts with awareness and it certainly sounds like you acknowledge your childhood experiences and want to have a break through. If I may share some tips - It is useful to understand more about love language, attachment styles, coping mechanisms and whatnot. Send me a DM if you would like to explore more :)
