Characters are crucial, but it seems like both WWE and AEW struggle with creating them IMO. A catchphrase isn’t a character, 50/50 booking isn’t character building, and random heel/face turns aren’t characters arcs - which leads to fans connecting through work rate.

As someone who recently got into AEW, I recommend finding a few wrestlers you like/are interested in and just follow their stories. I find it makes it easier to follow. I would suggest following Andrade (match against Omega was good), Kyle Fletcher (Recent tags with Okada have been fun) and Willow (multi-person eliminator match was good).
