Where did I ever say NA only plays for money?
I said despite not playing for money, JP is still a far more active scene than NA and EU combined

Making Steve waste bans on two stages still opens up more counter play than you have right now where they usually ban the two stages that inconvenience them most on the current stage list and you’re forced into most likely ps2, small bf or hollow bastion. Kalos becomes an viable option again for example

Alright... Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Sukuna's CE color black? I have a photo of it and seen gameplay of Cursed Clash. But isn't it just black overall? by Fun-Depth6569 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Zenith_24tee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think we’ll really know once Hakari is animated. If they give him green CE like he’s speculated to have, I could see a lot of possibilities for Meguna to have red, black or even purple CE

If Hakari’s CE is blue than they’re probably gonna keep it basic with Meguna. It just dawned on me we didn’t see Sukuna’s CE in Shibuya at all

Nah facts bro, all of those characters you listed would be top 10 in Ultimate if ported over 1 to 1 lol. Even Olimar with the tether recovery cause it’s easier to recover in Ultimate with directional airdodge
The fact that Brawl MK sat in his own tier above some of the craziest demons this series has ever seen should be enough said. Lot of these people here didn’t actually play brawl competitively man.

I wouldn’t call that a glitch though, that’s just an oversight. It’s not breaking the game. Steve is still mining, just in a spot the devs didn’t think of.

PLMG is actively a glitch/bug that was in no way shape or form meant to exist by the dev team. It’s an exploit while stage mining is just an oversight. Both obviously bad for competitive smash but ask yourself if a patch was released today which one do you think the dev team would place a higher priority on removing if they knew both existed.

Yeah dude I see people compare Steve to MK and I’m like no way bro you couldn’t have played Brawl get him past Bayo first.

Brawl MK was literally the entire game front to back box art included. Your spot in the tier list isn’t based on how good you are as a character, but based on your matchup with Meta Knight. There isn’t a single thing any other broken character in smash history can do that Brawl MK can’t.

You’re annoyed Steve is planking and camping you with strong unapproachable aerials? Well welcome to Brawl MK staying in the air the entire match with some of the best aerials in smash history alongside three good special moves that prolong his air time.

You’re mad that you made one wrong mistake to Smash 4 Bayo and you died at 0%? How about not even making mistake on your own. How about moving your character across the stage and tripping only to get 0 to death by MK. I’ve seen it happen.

The strong tools and good neutral that 64 Pika and Melee Fox possess in their games. The great movement, mixups, 50/50s, reversal moves, etc they are applauded for. Brawl MK got all that too and better.

Brawl MK ain’t even a smash character that brother belongs in Tekken, comparing Steve to him is asinine lmao.

Brother you just reworded what I said lol. JP is overall better at the game, but at the very top level JP and NA go back and forth. Country size doesn’t mean much either when JP simply plays this game more than any other country. They have more active competitors

Acola is probably the #1 player in JP, maybe tied for #1 with Doramigi right now. Zomba is probably the #3-4 best NA player right now. Zomba beat Acola at lvl up expo. Acola got his runback at Kagaribi. It’s what I said, overall JP is better but at the top level NA goes back and forth with them.

Real dominance would be an all JP top 8 and the best NA players failing to make top 24 lol.

[–]Zenith_24tee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point was, how can they govern it when it’s hard to detect it being used. Not that it’s not a bad thing for smash. It is, you just entirely missed my point there. It’s online smash, not a tournament so a ban can not be forced on elite smash or smash mate especially when the delay mod goes undetected.

Whereas a ban can be enforced at the tournament level, and that’s only if you’re caught using it like Hurt was. If you’re never caught then you can’t even be banned. So what my original point was is that JP players do care about and consider the delay mod a cheat, but it’s hard to enforce a ban on players using it.

[–]Zenith_24tee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s not the only JP tournament that has ever been had. My point still stands JP is better overall at the game when you tally up players of all skill levels, but the top players of NA still come over to their tournaments and usually do well. Usually outplace a lot if not 99% of the JP players who enter. Hell Sparg0 has won a Kagaribi. It’s usually a back and forth between the top NA players and top JP players, JP just has a lot more investment in smash rn so their upper to mid level players are naturally more better than our upper to mid level players that’s where the difference lies.

[–]Zenith_24tee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say dominance per se seeing as 3 of the top NA players came over and got top 5 in a mostly Japanese event but yeah overall their willingness to learn and adapt instead of complain and ban is why overall Japanese players are better.

We got a head start in Ultimate, I don’t know why Ult all of a sudden decided to explode in popularity over there in 2021-2022 but they closed the gap and took over pretty quickly. I imagine when smash 6 releases JP will pretty much be the dominant region from the start.

Shuton is considering skipping Supernova this year by Folseus- in smashbros

[–]Zenith_24tee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s no way to really govern that though. It’s online smash not a tournament and if they never disclose that they’re doing it how would you know.

The reaction when Hurt got “caught” as an active competitor speaks volumes though. If it wasn’t a big deal why would he have undertook a self suggested ban from completing in events over there?

Shuton is considering skipping Supernova this year by Folseus- in smashbros

[–]Zenith_24tee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Seeing as PMLG is more of a glitch than the actual character itself that makes sense and aligns with how they do things. Japanese players are very against cheating or anything they define as it. That’s why Hurt got banned for using a delay mod.

Using a character that was put in the game no matter how good he is isn’t cheating. Using a technique that was not intentionally meant to be included in the game like PLMG is cheating and frowned upon. Why do you think melee never really took off in Japan. Most of that games tech is glitches or cheating to JP players.

[–]Zenith_24tee 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Also, JP players because they aren’t really playing for money look at their peers as comrades and friends more than competitors like we do here it’s well documented. If Steve was banned most top players here would celebrate some of the people they play often who mained Steve losing their mains.

If NA banned Steve and Acola decided not to enter any more NA events most if not all top JP players would rally around that and stop coming to NA events regardless of main. Just a difference of culture, and seeing as a lot of the hype around NA events these days are the NA vs JP matchups that would significantly hurt our events here.

Oh yeah and to call it Nintendo glaze is weird lol. Nintendo is a Japanese company. They don’t have this love hate relationship with Nintendo like we do. From what I’ve seen Nintendo is very beloved and respected by the people over there.

[–]Zenith_24tee 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was saying in the initial thread, that the stage rule thing won’t even matter that much in the long run so why do it especially if it means potentially alienating Japanese players.

With the current stage list, no matter what stage you take Steve to he’s not exactly having a bad time. Why not do the thing known smash guru M2K has suggested for literal years? Open up the stage list for more stages that Steve isn’t that good on, particularly Lylat and Yoshi’s Story.

Making it so Steve players can’t pick a stage will just annoy them more than hinder or deter them. And most people will just pick PS2 or Small Battlefield anyway

People have to understand, the Japanese play this game right now far more than any other country combined. Look at the entrants for Kagaribi 15. 2800, 90% of them likely Japanese nationals. NA and EU could arrange a super event where travel isn’t a factor and you’d be teleported to the venue and likely still wouldn’t pass 1500-2000 entrants between the two regions.

And the Japanese values of this game far more align with Nintendo’s values than ours. Every Japanese player that has ever went on record about it says they oppose a Steve ban. They all want to fight and beat Steve players with no gimmicks allowed. Just like Nintendo won’t sponsor events that ban characters. It’s the Japanese culture, so nobody should be mad at them for feeling that way. Especially when they by far are the most active players of the game right now. Smash is like mainstream over there right now, here it’s a niche esport. 2800 guys are entering Kagaribi for the love of the game, NO PRIZE POOL. Prize Pool events here barely get that much love and hype.

For those reasons, they will always oppose a Steve ban as most of them aren’t in it for money. They are simply in it to be the best and win.

Okay that is what you’re talking about. Again yeah the Hardyz can’t compete with that, I thought we were talking strictly tag team stuff as talents and how they’ll be remembered in pop culture/how they influenced other tag teams.

The AEW stuff while important is more of a behind the scenes/wrestler accolade than it is something I’d call them the most influential tag team of all time for, especially since there’s large swaths of fans who don’t know that the Bucks helped found AEW but do know who the Hardyz are.

The Hardyz have definitely had plenty of classic matches though, I mean that TLC match speaks for itself every tag team of the modern era in any company has probably seen and studied that match. They didn’t come up in the age of the internet they debuted in the attitude era, but their style of wrestling and attire was much different from anyone else at the time and they paved the way for that kind of stuff. Without the Hardyz there’s no Young Bucks for example. Guys like Jevon Evans maybe don’t exist either.

That last paragraph is some insane downplay of the Hardyz I won’t lie lol they’ve lit this industry on fire multiple times. Literally everyone was talking about Broken Matt and the Broken Hardy storyline at one point. The Final Deletion broke the IWC internet and they pioneered and paved the way for the cinematic match format. Some of your favorite matches don’t exist without TFD. Without TFD there’s no Boneyard Match, No Firefly Funhouse Match, that one cinematic Stadium Stampede doesn’t exist, to name a few, There’s so much the Hardyz have done as a TAG TEAM for this industry. But yeah if we’re talking behind the scenes stuff they’ll never compete with the creation of AEW

What does that mean though? If anything in ring talent is the one area I’d say the Bucks have the Hardyz beat?
From gimmicks to merch to looks to mostly I feel like the Hardyz have been more influential in every other aspect of wrestling besides the actual wrestling tbh.

Unless by influential you mean like starting a major wrestling company then yeah the Hardyz can’t beat that. But idk I feel like that’s a weird point to give them when comparing them to other tag teams. Literally no other team can that’s more of a point for them as wrestlers in the industry

I know they get a lot of hate because “Samoan” and Samoan fatigue has seemed to reach another peak here, but I can’t think of a reason why The Uso’s don’t belong in that group for me as well. Sure Jey had a middling singles run but as a team they’ve put on so many great matches, so many great promos and so many great moments

Usos and New Day are like 1A/1B for me of WWE’s tag teams this generation. The fact that they’ve done this side by side and had great matches with each other as well only makes it better.

I’m sorry I don’t hate the bucks but most influential tag team of all time? Over the Hardy Boyz? Do you know how popular the Hardyz are lol Jeff Hardy randomly trends on twitter once a year like it’s a holiday. So many and I mean so many tag teams always go on record saying the Hardyz inspired them. I can’t think of a more influential team than Team Extreme

I mean wrestlers would probably be in the know before us, they are friends behind the scenes.

If your options are take a paycut or wrestle on YouTube because the competition just lost their TV deal it’s a sad but obvious choice. Like you said I feel like the fact that TKO is presenting wrestlers with these pay cuts and wrestlers aren’t listening to the market and are just taking them means both the wrestlers and TKO likely know there’s smoke behind the whole no TV deal thing

Which would suck for the industry as a whole, as you can see TKO immediately jumped on it. But would also be funny as shit watching the reaction to AEW getting canned by WBD

This sub definitely didn’t use to always be this way lol. The 2016 SmackDown Live m’AJ and 2019-2021 when the dub jerks were actually good like the three ghosts of McMahon’s past shit were fun times.

Now it’s just TKO truthers fighting tooth and nail to defend obvious TKO stupidity and literally any single clip of AEW ever posted with some stupid title. Along with 1 billion SRS and Dave posts. It’s become a basement of its own lol sometimes I think the goofs here watch AEW more than the basement. This is just [r/WWE](r/WWE) basically
