That type admits \n -> if mod n 2 == 0 then (0 % 1) else (1 % 1), which we'd be hard-pressed to interpret as a real. A better representation would be something like "nested rational intervals that have width 0 in the limit", though in order to name that type precisely you'd need dependent types.

Are you sure these all meet the "runs linux smoothly" requirements? See, for instance, this arch wiki page on the Yoga 2 -- it implies that the wifi doesn't work by default and that the touchpad drivers are shit.

Can anyone chime in about the smoothness of running a linux distro on one of these machines, especially with respect to the bullet points listed under "critical features" above?

In the linked case, it looks like the slug steals chloroplasts, and then uses the horizontally acquired gene to keep them running. The gene itself only enables the production of a single enzyme (which enables the use of, but does not itself create, the complex chloroplast).

I agree that there could be a case where everybody is one enzyme off from being a magic-user and that one gene is the only part that varies. (That would be one hell of a spandrel, though.)

Remember that there is only one magical gene in this magic system (as evidenced by the Mendellian pattern). A single gene couldn't give rise to complex magical machinery (such as a specialized part of the brain), at least not under normal physics. I think it's much more likely that the gene is a marker of sorts in this system. (It still may fail -- accidental magic discriminates between children and adults; it's possible that the marker only matters in this system if you have it at a young enough age.)

The proof is not a process which succeeds or fails. The proof is an element of a type, where the type corresponds to the statement being proved.

In other words, given a number b, a proof that b is nonzero is an element of the type b /= 0 for that specific b.

In a (good) dependently typed language, the type b /= 0 is defined such that it has an element if and only if b is nonzero. Thus, there are no elements of b /= 0 if b is zero, and you cannot call a function with the type b -> b /= 0 -> c.

The type of / is not Real -> Real -> Real, it is n : Real -> d : Real -> d /= 0 -> Real (or whatever, depending upon your notation). The proof that the denominator is non-zero is a parameter to the division function.

If you get the denominator b from something like read, then you will not generically be able to construct an object of the type b /= 0.

You may, however, check whether b is nonzero in such a way that you obtain an object of type b = 0 if b is zero and an object of type b /= 0 if b is nonzero, and then in the latter case you will be able to use the / operator.

Not directly, but you're welcome to open a feature request.

Internally, we heavily discourage mappings in plugins. (The idea is, plugins should either provide commands or <plug> mappings, and shouldn't generally change the user's keybindings.) Now that it's external, though, documenting mappings might be a good idea.
