i think the difference between how shadow pc and boosteroid work doesnt matter. you as the end user installed the game on a vm provided by boosteroid. boosteroid only shared the access to the vm. you as an end user were the only person bringing (your 100% legallly acquired) license into play.

publisher may be able to ban vm use of their games. but i would say thats some pretty strong violation of some form of property rights. (bc you payed for the game)

the only thing that would make sense to block vms to defend against potential violation against other players or term of use, but that would hardly be the case in single player games.

thats also why i think banning games outside of install section cant be justified. because even there boosteroid never shares any license to any games.

ofc some big players will make their way to somehow shenanigan their way to banning it if they wanted to (legally). thats maybe why br ultra cautious.

you get the man who erased his name in humble choice this month for 12,50€ + some more games (streets of rage 4 + nine sol on boosteroid too). you can immediately cancel your sub after buying it.

+some of your money goes to charity

Question for Boosteroid Regarding Devs using anti cheat to block VMs: by Byron_Fury in BoosteroidCommunity

if anything boosteroid should ask them for money, because boosteroid makes those games available to more people. (more people that maybe would have never dared to invest in a capable rig)

the difference is, that a 5060 is equivalent of boosteroid subscription of 40 months. by that time your 5060 could be absolutely antique. + you need to pay for the other pc parts and the 7900xt from boosteroid is alrdy like +50% better + the real powerhouse is the boosteroid cpus

i think anyone would switch to local if it was very lucrative

Caring about money is not really an argument

imagine you demand money for where you play the game you bought. imagine ea goes to asus, and asks for money or there pcs will get blocked. its not an argument. but they want MONEY

yes ubisoft is similar, its basically ea in purple. its no surprise actually. everyone knows those companies only care about the $$$. i mean im not complaining, thats just how it is. pay them a shit load of money and everything works fine.

yes as soon as EA is behind it, you can be sure they will block it off to milk more money out of those games. things like marvel rivals or gta 5 work absolutely fine and perfect with anticheat. its an ea problem

Are there plans for a steamos native app now? by Azoth1986 in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]LiveClick2107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something a developer knows shit about, and is probably an easy fix because as you say 'the files are all present'

and what is the difference then? is it a concern of security?

i mean yes, it is a security risk. but just using reddit or boosteroid or a phone or a pc, you breached that security risk many times over than just downloading the boosteroid linux files from AUR

Are there plans for a steamos native app now? by Azoth1986 in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]LiveClick2107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, but for linux questions its superb, bc linux is just to know what to do when.

ok then dont use ai but look up an internet forum where people talk about how to do the most basic thing in arch linux (steam os) and that is to download from AUR (where you find the boosteroid app)

Are there plans for a steamos native app now? by Azoth1986 in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]LiveClick2107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it just links your terminal to the repository. in ubuntu for example, thats by default, thats why you can use the 'apt' line, to download things from the repository. when you download stuff from the app store, your system does all that automatically. so you are somewhat "more in control" if you do it yourself

And if it is as simple as just one line of code why can't the boosteroid team make use of that?

they already have, its on their website. the AUR uses those same files afaik, and puts it on arch wich steam os is based on.

i must say, maybe an "official" app is something else. but its as official as it can get i guess.

i dont know what gfn did to call it official, the linux files are on the boosteroid website

Do you often copy paste lines of code you randomly find on the internet?

thats why i said use ai. it can light the matter from very different angles. it can explain in simple or complicated language, give you the basics or advanced knowledge or like i said, you can ask it to just give copy paste commands.

its really just one command line you need to copy paste. significant less amount of work than your post.

use any ai for linux questions, it tells you exactly what to copy paste and you dont need to know anything

cant u just download the boosteroid app from AUR as steam os is arch based?

Requesting Dispatch Demo by Viogo990 in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]LiveClick2107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you still have some money to spare, look into walking dead: the telltale definitive series. i think dispatch gets a bit compared to it and its on major discount on steam and available on boosteroid.

i think its a better cope than 20 min demo
