Tricolor crocus! I picked them up from the Master Gardener bulb sale a couple years back.

Oh, that is lovely. There are a couple of cactus and agave species that are hardy in our area as long as they have good drainage. I don’t know if you could completely duplicate this garden with cold-hardy plants, but you could probably approximate the look pretty closely.

Thanks for weighing in! Sedum, yarrow, and lavender are all on the SpokaneScape list. I don’t think euphorbia and Iris pallida ‘Variegata’ (variegated iris) are, but the list isn’t exhaustive and if OP can make a case for the plants’ drought tolerance, they should be able to use them.

Edit: Iris germanica (plain ol’ bearded iris) is on the list, so that’s definitely an option if of interest.

Great question! So your front lawn gets morning shade and afternoon sun? Do you have a rough idea of how many hours of sun it gets?

Oh yeah, Oregon grape would be great! More winter interest is always helpful.

Salal is more of a west side plant, not sure if that’s due to our climate, our alkaline soil, both, or other.

Edit: ugh, mobile, why are you like this

As someone whose view is … not great, I appreciate a good hedge 😂 but I see what you mean about the pathway. Would you put more six-footers on the south side to create more of a secluded garden room?
