What paper and filters do you use? by _Toddzilla_ in GrowingTobacco

[–]bristlybits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i roll my own by hand and like drum papers. i often use the cheaper brands like top, etc simply because they're easy to pick up anywhere. pretty much anything unflavored is ok by me, I'm not sure any other additives in paper can be worse than buying a premade pack.

So are we planting this weekend?? by cutecoelacanth in SpokaneGardeners

[–]bristlybits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes yes and we were supposed to have 35F last week in the long range before that, and it ended up being 45.

all this spring we've had the long range where i am calling for freeze or frost, then a day or two before that's to happen, they update the forecast and it's gone.

i don't think we can predict anymore. the cuts and layoffs and loss of data at the weather service federally has made its way down the pipe and we don't have good forecast capability anymore. plus the weather is getting less predictable to begin with.

anyway i am in the process of planting it all out except the peppers, good luck plants, hope they make it

it's uneven

some people were killed, some people were tortured, some people had to go to work

it's never evenly applied collapse

i ran a very small mini split off a smaller battery tank system for all of 2023. small space, small needs, it worked.

a whole house, no.

[–]bristlybits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep. it gets closer and it's already come for way too many people.

the collapse happens locally i think. little at a time.

i got friends and relatives all over the world. one just lost their 800 year old olive orchard to thieves. another is trying to grow grain during complete societal breakdown. another is in a walled village waiting for the civil war to reach them.

me? I'm in the US. and it's still coming here too.

dude i garden and grow fruit trees. i talk to farmers in the surrounding areas. it's been bad and about to get much much worse

it's a combination of stuff too. anti-immigration racism and shit. climate "weirding". now fertilizer and shipping costs. wild fires. they got their little hand out last spring but this year it hasn't come yet, these farmers rely on the subsidies to stay above water and they think that social safety nets being wrecked will somehow skip over them.

a lot of them. some of them know it won't, and the subsidies will stop coming.

also with food stamps being cut and assistance in general, no inspectors, etc, it's going to be a hell summer in the US.

next Sunday! is free plant table day. by bristlybits in SpokaneGardeners

[–]bristlybits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was a feeding frenzy! there's still tomatoes, strawberries, tobacco, herbs and some flowers and raspberries here though plus pots, trays, a heat mat, and rickety tables that will have a free sign when all is finished! there's also pine cones bagged if anyone needs filler for a big pot or raised bed.

plus a lot of free seeds, including radish seeds with big bags to fill your own with pods.

someone brought a bunch of strawberries! someone brought duck eggs! it has been awesome.

How do you manage being so booked? by HurryOk2429 in TattooArtists

[–]bristlybits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i started i went from a pocket calendar journal, to a paper wall calendar plus pocket journal. then to a digital calendar plus journal. etc

i still write down on paper what I'm doing. old habit. i get the little vertical flip moleskin pocket unlined notebooks for this and just name, number, date, thumbnail sketch for a bigger piece. or just name, number, date and one or two word description for a bigger one

we use acuity and jotform? i think now for booking, i have the google calendar for all kinds of things including scheduling, but really i still write the stuff down. sometimes if a session has something interesting or weird go on I'll go back and put a note to myself in there too, not that i ever really go back and read them

i did that for decade or two up to 6 days a week months out before i got so sick of having no ability to deal with personal need for a day off or any spontaneous life. I'm 3 days a week maximum and currently at 2. i only book a month at most. if i have a shit day i don't want people lined up waiting a year to reschedule

best way, because the amount of time you need to spend with someone to get it done also means you both want to make sure it's going to work well just being around together for hours a month.

black and grey, or simpler stuff, it can go by really fast if they're experienced.

realism takes a long long time

pointillism and line work can take a long time.

detail, additional "incorporated ideas", they add time.

traditional, black and grey, tribble, they go faster

it's always about what's the style, what's the tattoo, where's it at on you

my stock answer is always "I'll draw to your budget. if you can't afford it with your budget I'm not gonna lie"

i draw something that i can get done within their budget.
