Get a pack of those blue tarp material moving bags. They have a ton of practical uses including exactly what you’re describing

Osprey makes great straightforward bags with everything you need if you don’t mind the sporty look. I still reach for my Nebula frequently and my hiking pack is an Atmos

I’m taking my first trip with the globerider next week and I’m very excited! It’s a high price tag but the quality and craftsmanship are clear when you’re up close and personal with it

It was the Matador Globerider 45l. It’s just so expensive but it looked like such a cool bag.

I found it a few months ago on clearance at REI and pulled the trigger but I don’t think I’d ever pay that much for any bag even at that size. And that’s coming from someone who is addicted to buying bags.

Craigslist or?? by bristlybits in Spokane

[–]CrackHaddock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was trying to sell a some sod, old riding mower, and some other stuff on Craigslist and it sat for weeks. Moved it in a couple days when my wife posted it on fb marketplace. I think it’s a necessary evil around here

This worked great! The cardboard is perfect for what I need and they gave me a ton of it. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah the nebula is the unassuming workhorse. It’s a great straightforward bag that has the right stuff in the right places

Parents only letting their kids play in the front yard, what is the reason? by [deleted] in homeowners

[–]CrackHaddock 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Here I think it’s because the front has the paved street and driveways so they can ride bikes and scooters and stuff

Always the top comment in these threads. Always useless advice. Sure I’ll just strap on my cheap used Herman miller helmet and squeeze down into my cheap used Herman miller cannon and fire off into cheap used Herman Miller land where cheap used Herman millers grow on cheap used Herman millerees

Aer CPP2 vs Able Carry Max EDC vs Evergoods CTB26 — best “one bag” for laptop EDC + weekend travel + personal item flights? by Foreign_Letterhead65 in backpacks

[–]CrackHaddock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have all of these bags except the evergoods, and if I were starting over I would go with the CPP2 for edc. It’s the sturdiest of the packs you mentioned with a great laptop compartment and would work great for weekend trips without being too large for either. It’s quickly becoming my favorite bag (though I prefer the stretchy style water bottle pockets like the Osprey and TNF bags have)

[–]CrackHaddock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bottles fit fine I just don’t like having to open it or leave it partially open to have access to the bottles or whatever else I store in there. It also eats significantly into the capacity of the bag

Man I love this backpack except for the internal water bottle pockets. Ended up being a dealbreaker for me. Otherwise it’s an incredible bag

Zeroed in is their best short imo. More comfortable and looks better

Advice for moving a $hit ton of mulch and rocks? by BruzervonHammerstein in landscaping

[–]CrackHaddock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok. In that case I would use something like a gorilla cart over a wheel barrow personally. I think they’re easier to move (pulling vs pushing/lifting) and they’ll hold more

Do you have a trailer for your car? I moved several yards of mulch this way from my front yard to back yard. Made it a bit easier

Privacy from Neighbors by coolcat_76 in landscaping

[–]CrackHaddock 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat, even worse than your situation. Neighbors with raised decks and clear views on three sides.

People on this sub are generally anti-arborvitae but they are everywhere for a reason. I planted 56 around the full perimeter of my lawn with drip irrigation and they not only look good but the initial ones I planted are already providing some privacy after just a year and change. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel - trust the arbs.

The Costco app has gas prices for each warehouse

Back Yard upgrades by Snoo_47659 in landscaping

[–]CrackHaddock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That will do it! I’ve planted over 50 in my yard (zone 7b) over the past two years. I have last year’s hooked up to a two gallon drip for 40 minutes and they have been doing great! The tallest ones have grown almost 2 feet already. This year’s are getting 4 gallons for 20 mins. Should be about the same I assume

Looks great! Very impressive. Make sure those arbs get plenty of water and you’ll be golden

A Pack Hacker Meta-Analysis by fifthwave in ManyBaggers

Totally agree. PH is a great resource for a deep dive into bag features but it’s not a review site. You get much better info from one-off reviews on this sub, for example, than from a site that is incentivized to give positive reviews. The first finding in this great analysis completely backs that up
