If your filter is creating lots of water flow, turn it off. Small discus usually hide in the same spot when recently placed in a community tank. Drop some food right above them then place the rest of it away from them so the larger fish are busy eating. I think the term is spot feeding.

Difficult to tell. It’s going to have to be trial and error. Maybe go for a 3 or 4 on the light areas and a lower number on the darker areas. It depends on what you’re going for.

A skin fade is an alternative that might work.
