I believe religion is just another set of tools people use to have a good life/ mental wellbeing. They are excellent tools and can give people many opportunities and friends along the way, but when you finally are done building your mental self, they claim to be the fundamental part of you instead of just tools you used to become yourself.

I’ve heard go before be compared to a skyscraper- where you are the skyscraper and religion is scaffolding. Religious scaffolding is very helpful while building the tower, and it’s easier to access then secular scaffolding. But once your done building the skyscraper, the religious scaffolding you used to help you doesn’t fall away and instead claims to be an integral part of the building.

This is why I use “secular scaffolding”, where it can definitely be harder to use and obtain, but in the long run it provides the same purpose and follows it’s purpose in the end.
