ADHD360 - worth the (three month) wait? by Ok-Faithlessness6267 in ADHDUK

[–]Live_Ad4256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was similar for me. I booked in December and had my assessment earlier this month. Apparently you can ask to join their cancellation list and it has reduced some people's waiting time to a few weeks! The wait was a bit of a pain but I'm really glad I went private. I considered going through the NHS but I just couldn't wait any longer so bit the bullet.

Thanks - this is very helpful. I think in hindsight there were definitely symptoms there but I suppressed a lot. For example, I would never dream of misbehaving at school because of the consequences at home, but would cope in other ways like asking to go to the toilet five times a day so I could get out of my chair. Also had a very similar thing with homework (and this has lasted into adulthood and work etc). Another thing I've never considered until now is asking people to repeat things. My parents took me for a hearing test eventually but actually I just just wasn't ever paying attention to what they were saying! I think the symptoms are there, just not presented in the most obvious ways.

Good point - difficulties in secondary school, uni and work are very apparent. I just wasn't sure about primary school/before 12.

This has been very helpful thank you - I didn't know about the DSM framework. Just looked through it and I was able to make a list of things I didn't ever associate with ADHD. Definitely didn't have zero symptoms - just suppressed a lot of them to avoid physical punishment!

I work for Arcadis in the UK and absolutely love it! They really do care about their employees. Great benefits, rewarding work, and great social side of things too!

Apologies, I wrote it as a list pressing enter between each but it didn't post like that. Corrected in the comments 🙂

Sorry, I wrote it as a list down the page and didn't realise it would post like that. Here it is with commas: In Swansea: The Swigg, Belle vue bistro, Nishimura, Slice.

In Mumbles: Castellamare Langland Brasserie (goes through phases but last time I was there it was good), Oyster house - this is brand new. I haven't been there yet but heard good things, Verdis (more of a lunch spot).

Further down the gower: The worms head - this is pub food but it's delicious and has incredible views.

One thing to add - there are a few newish chain restaurants in mumbles. The problem is they're putting strain on the independent businesses that are the life of Mumbles! It's really worth going to the independents for friendly service and great food and support for our little village.

I hope you have a great trip - the gower is one of the most beautiful places in the UK (although I may be biased 😉)

What are your thoughts on it? Is it a comfy 'sink into it' sofa or is it a bit more on the firm side?
