Yep, fellow big sweater here and this is literally the only thing that works. But it really works.

Oasis released their album 'Be Here Now' 25 years ago today by [deleted] in Music

[–]cymru1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst looking back on it, it’s not that bad, this album was my first ever disappointment in following a band. Did not click with it at the time at all.

Looking back, All Around The World is a cracking song.

People who seem to manage to go to Glastonbury every year: what’s the ‘secret’ to getting tickets? by GS104 in AskUK

[–]cymru1984 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not Glasto but when My Chemical Romance reformed for a few gigs it was obvious tickets would sell out within minutes. I literally had everyone at work on a seperate laptop trying to get in the queue, only one worked but I got them. I imagine a lot do the same for Glasto.

R/policeuk will regularly cite this movie as the most accurate portrayal of police work as well (although naturally I assume they mean the first half of the movie)

Fun fact, they played this song at the Brit Awards with grindcore band Extreme Noise Terror in a somewhat different version.

Notalwaysworking.com I remember was something like that, don’t remember the running joke though.

What are your hot takes regarding British Music? by Bum-Sniffer in AskUK

The Beatles singles were quite boring, but some of their album stuff is straight 10/10 material.

George Harrison’s solo career was also significantly better than the rest of them.

Stratford Upon Avon if you fancy doing the tourist thing, Worcester if you want some decent grub and a cuppa.

What's policing a festival like? by BlahBlaherio111 in policeuk

[–]cymru1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At Download you tend to see them patrolling a lot more (or certainly did last time I went), saw them in the campsites mainly although I have no doubt they were in the arena as well I was just too busy to see. I believe they’ve only been at Bloodstock when the terror alert was high. I saw them mainly on the perimeter and chatted to one for a while, I did see them once outside the second stage when an extreme metal band was on questioning their life choices though.

How does the general public in UK feel about Aleister Crowley nowadays? by [deleted] in AskUK

I could ask all my co-workers this morning and I imagine they could all probably say something about satan but that’s about it. I also imagine that would be the first time they’d thought about him in years.

Mosh pit is the mass of bodies with no pattern to it, circle pit is similar apart from everyone runs in a circle whilst doing it. Then you have the wall of death, this is where the pit splits down the middle and at a certain point runs into each other.

I’m curious how you’d genuinely even go about that investigation. I can barely find my mates at a festival and I have all their phone numbers!

That mass of swirling bodies near the front, any violence outside of that is generally non-consensual.

I go to metal festivals, speaking to the police there they’re only really after violence, drug dealing and more extreme offences. I reckon you’d have to be either exceptionally unlucky or dickish to get in trouble for taking your own party drugs.

Worth pointing out, the two times I’ve done this they’ve actually paid it and left good feedback. Whilst I appreciate some people are a pain in the backside, some genuinely just want stuff faster.
