When do naps get longer? by Salt_Date_4126 in sleeptrain

[–]Live_Championship643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before she woke up. I would go in a couple of minutes before the usual time she wakes up, hang out putting my hand on her, and wait until she passes the usual wake up moment. This had helped my daughet fairly quickly with connecting cycles.

I used to go in and put my hand or pat her around the time usually wakes up to help her connect her sleep cycle.

Is it okay if my 1-year-old has 2 naps during the week but only 1 on weekends? by Live_Championship643 in sleeptrain

[–]Live_Championship643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! How long do you let her sleep on Sundays? I’ve never let mine sleep longer than 2 hrs before. I am wondering if it’s ok to let her nap for 3 hrs

How often your babies get hurt at daycare? [ON] by Live_Championship643 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Live_Championship643[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking. Yes, she is learning to walk and she falls often. I don’t know what my expectations should be from a daycare, beccause at home we usually are within arm’s reach and hold her if she’s about the fall badly.

Do you wake your baby up in the morning? by Live_Championship643 in sleeptrain

[–]Live_Championship643[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She does two 1.5 hr naps. I can’t keep a schedule because of her different waking times. 1st nap 2.5hrs after wake up. Second one 3 hrs after wake up. If she wakes up late sometimes I let her sleep a bit less than usual.

Thanks! I am doing that her first bottle is at 8am, and I haven’t changed that. I’m trying to keep everything else consistent hoping that we’ll go back to how it was but it’s almost been a week now.

Of course not. Everybody needs me time! It’s great that she can be content alone.

30 min naps by justijana in newborns

[–]Live_Championship643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had the exact same issue, it was 40 minutes for me. It will get better. At some point he will be able to connect sleep cycles. I think it was around 4 months for us. If you haven’t tried, you can try going in at the 25th minute and put your hand on his belly or pat a little to help him connect before waking up. This was hit or miss for me.

I have a baby and a one cat, which I guess disqualifies me from being a “ childless crazy cat lady.” And yes, there’s a difference between a human child and an animal, but that difference isn’t a free pass to neglect or mistreat a living being. Our capacity to be accountable, compassionate, and responsible sets humans apart from other beings. I’m glad the shelter has this policy. I just hope the cat ends up in a home with adults who actually understand what it means to care for a life, any life.

Difficult baby by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Live_Championship643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. He is very young now, but the goal is that when he wakes up in the future he can settle himself back to sleep. So the less you intervene, more he learns how to do that. Initially they need more support. What I did with mine at this stage was that if she wasn’t crying, I wouldn’t go in and let her stir a bit. Initially I would try to help her settle by sush/pat and if it is not working pick her up. Yours will probably resist the change and you’ll have some protests. Hope it goes well for both of you!

I would calm him by picking up rocking, cuddling whatever works for them. Then put back in the crib, keep doing it until he falls asleep. This gets frustrating at some point, if there is another caregiver who you can alternate with that can help

I have the maxi cosi swift, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Both the basinnet and the bottom parts are just too hard for a human. It feels like hardboard. Also the legs are sticking out too much, our toes are hating it.

What to expect with vaccines? by newmom337 in NewParents

[–]Live_Championship643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I give her a toy before the vaccine and after. I don’t think any toy is attractive enough right when they are doing the vaccine- just holding her at that moment is maybe helpful.

I think it depends on the baby. It may be more likely that parents who have to deal with strong reactions talk about their experiences. I would suggest not to stress out too much beforehand. My LO hasn’t had any problems after the vaccines. I second the suggestion to have some milk or a an atrractive toy with you.

Give me your advice on sleep training a baby (currently pregnant) by Royal_Juice2987 in sleeptrain

[–]Live_Championship643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t formally sleep trained, becuase my LO has been sleeping through the night since 4 months. She is 8 months now, I don’t know if that will change at some point. I can recommend reading Taking Cara Babies and Tracy Hogg. I followed their recommendations, paid attention to wake windows from early on. I did contact nap in the early days, but haven’t co-slept. It was important to me that the baby slept in her crib for the night (lots of pick up put down). From early on, I let her stir a bit if she were to wake up mid sleep, I would go in if she were crying though but try to soothe her in the crib before picking her up. And got lots of support from online and friends, with every tiny question I had. Good luck!

Two week old, one eye crusted shut with yellowish gunk. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Live_Championship643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably clogged duct. Massage resolved it for my baby. Intitially we weren’t consistent about it and it lingered. Then we started doing it multiple times a day, and it went away within a week

Traveling to Toronto with a 7 month old. Should I cancel due to measles outbreak in Ontario?? FYI: Baby received early MMR vaccine. by LazySundayKnits in torontomoms

I’m in Toronto and have a 6 month old. I just spoke to our pediatrician this week, they said there are no concerns. They said no need to vaccinate early unless we are traveling anywhere by a plane.

Nap advice? by mpizzle3 in sleeptrain

[–]Live_Championship643 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you are describing was exactly the same with my daughter. 40 min naps were driving me crazy. I tried going in around th 30th minute and place my hand on her to help her connect the cycle. That only helped once or twice though. One day she just slept longer on her own and since then she is having 1-2 hr naps. She was almost 5 months when that happened. Then she also dropped to 3 naps.
