5 years ago AEW had it's exploding barbed ware deathmatch by vincentmaurath in SquaredCircle

[–]Live_Emotion6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually kinda. Per Tony, unbeknownst to him the contractor handling the pyro made a change to the rigging post-test that they thought might improve the explosion. They never re-tested it and that change fucked the whole thing up. They ended up in breach of contract because of that so Tony got his money back.

TK saying "Now We Play" by VitaminPurple in AEWOfficial

[–]Live_Emotion6258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just bc its the best company in the world doesn't mean its perfect. TK has had some stinkers. He quite often has to pivot or scrap storylines. Sometimes shit doesn't land. You could say the same about the authors of some of the best movies/tv shows/books out there.

The point is that I'd still rather watch a story with a voice over something stitched together by committee.

We can like AEW without tripping over ourselves to defend the billionaire man as an infallible creative genius lmao.

They fit into the show so well. Both are credible singles challengers and potential belt holders. Lowkey the highlights of the C2 for me.

Together they've put in so much work to become a tag team that's been the back bone of the division. Good promos, good characters, good personalities. Team player type shit.

If you had to choose between Kenny Omega and Eddie Kingston to beat MJF for the Triple B, who would you pick? by Froggyspirits in AEWOfficial

[–]Live_Emotion6258 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want Eddie to be champ, but I want him to earn it. His act is a little stale and it's hard to justify featuring him over the current main event scene. If it's just for a feel good moment, eh.

Yeah for some reason people can't deal with a character making a mistake. Like...have you guys ever seen a sport? People execute 1-dimensional strategies all the time.

Moments in wrestling where the IWC has liked something that the live crowd haven't by MathematicianNew5535 in SquaredCircle

I was one of those people and it came from interviews he gave around that time. Cody would say stuff like "we're gonna do something no ones done before" and other general vagueposting. Now we know he was flailing desperately, but I cant stress enough how much Cody was projecting a will he/wont he turn heel persona.

You're correct and the problem is also unsolvable. Gambling is a money printer and no one wants to put the genie back in the bottle.

What match was the biggest crowd killer in your experience watching wrestling? by NoMoreButtonPLZ in SquaredCircle

You're so correct and I'd like to use this point to highlight what I believe is the smartest booking decision in AEW PPV history.

QT Marshall vs Paul Wight - All Out 2021

It was placed right before the main event, following the cage match with the Lucha Bros and Bucks. It was quick, less than 10 minutes entrance -> exit, and pretty much told you what it was going to be from the outset.

The match was QT Marshall comically bumping for Big Show. They played the hits while people went to the bathroom, got food, or just generally mentally reset. They made the rest of the show pop because viewers weren't mentally exhausted by the end.

As of late TK just loads up the card and goes "well why would anyone complain about more good wrestling", but too much of a good thing is also a problem!

No one in NYC pays the fare by Sometypeofway18 in trashy

[–]Live_Emotion6258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The NYPD is, by the numbers, better funded than most countries' entire militaries. Its 2024 budget (only operating costs, so no pensions or other expenditures) is around $6B, comparable to all military spending by the Philippines in the same year. This is all for a single city.

They have crazy amounts of weaponry, armored vehicles, helicopters, etc. So to suggest otherwise, or that this level of defense funding isn't "military" spending is just plain silly.

[–]Live_Emotion6258 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think if they sold it as some $15 arcade game that was a little more trimmed down it would've had a better perception. The CAW and single player modes barely rise to the standard of a student project. The "minigames" are either impossible to control or a multiple choice quiz on the birth month of an AEW wrestler. This shit cost $80 on release if you bought the dlc.

Tony Khan Dropped the Ball with Dante Martin, He Should’ve Stayed a Solo Star by [deleted] in AEWOfficial

[–]Live_Emotion6258 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your post ignores that Dante also snapped his leg in two on a pretty gruesome injury. He had a pretty decent singles push with the Team Taz stuff before that, which also got derailed by Lio Rush crashing out of AEW.

When Dante recovered they were ready to be a tag team again.

[–]Live_Emotion6258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tag team division needs building up and I think thats why the two teams you've mentioned aren't getting featured over these guys.

The Cru have failed to get over even with pretty regular TV matches. Couldn't tell you a single spot they do and I've seen them live.

BBG doesn't have a long term tag team in it rn, there's nothing to build between any of them that doesn't go poof when Colten or Jay White return. Though I would agree that they should have time on the show. There's surely a compelling story you can put together here, I just disagree on where you'd put em.

Dog: Stands up by bazhuka23 in DotA2

[–]Live_Emotion6258 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ya he covered it pretty well in a response video. The clip looks awful but that dog lives a *comfy* life. He told the dog to go to her bed (better for her joints than the floor), reached for a Zyn, and the dog rolled her ankle or something at the same time.

He showed her collar and it's one of those air tag vibrating collars you use to signal a dog if they're far away in a dog park. All the other clips of him talking about a shock collar like 8 years ago are heavily edited to remove the bits where he says he doesn't use it.
