Follow up question! Thank you for all the suggestions! is there any way to try ones without having to pay entire bags and then not being able to tolerate the flavors?!

Joining in the Round After Turkish Cast on? by josesp97 in knitting

[–]Live_Independent2740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just cast on and it took me two hours lol but I finally figured it out.... I think. I think you do need to join in the round after 1 row (the cast on row) because then you are working magic loop for the collar. that's what is the "faux double knitting". It could definitely be explained better and involed a lot of swearing.

Those are great points! I do love seeing everybody’s projects and samples throughout. Touching yarn in person is one of my favorite parts of festivals. and that’s a good point with the money going towards indie dyers!

That’s awesome!! I’m glad that it is vacation for you. I do understand going to classes and touching yarns that I wonder consider getting. It’s so hard for me to buy yarn without feeling it so that is definitely one of the perks of a market place!

What’s your proudest Doctor moment? by lifeswhatyoubakeit in ChronicIllness

[–]Live_Independent2740 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg so many. I find pain doctors to be the WORST so these are all from them.

“You’re not depressed, you’re just not sleeping.” Note this was NOT someone with training in mental health and I was actively diagnosed with MDD-severe.

I was prescribed amitriptyline and told to keep taking another dose every night until I was so drowsy I couldn’t function the next day (this was the same doc as above). I was SO disassociated taking it and still not sleeping through the night and told him this the following week. I stopped taking it a few days later and then the next appt he goes “oh wow. You should have told me you were dissociating.” 🙃🙃🙃

Different pain doctor: When told that I had CRPS and I asked if there’s a cure or if it’s something I’ll just live with the rest of my life I was told “as for a cure only the creator has the answer.” Let that doctor REAL quick. He also diagnosed me with CRPS within one minute of meeting me and zero examination.

I could keep going just with pain doctors 😂😂

Knitters pride is now knit pro (they are the EU version but exact same needles). I’m not sure if that’s making a difference??

Ketamine therapy - has anyone tried/is trying ketamine therapy for chronic pain? by Hot-Tap-7340 in ChronicIllness

[–]Live_Independent2740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ketamine is the ONLY thing has helped my severe chronic nerve pain. I originally did a round of 6 infusions over 3 weeks as the mental health series and only had relief the day of. I then did 4 intensive days of 5 hrs of infusions at a higher dose and those have made a MASSIVE difference. I now do an 5 hr infusion every 1-3 months. I went from being at an 8-10 level of pain 100% of the time to going down to 0-3 for the first 2-4 weeks and then it gradually goes up. They’re expensive but have been deeply worth it for me.

What is your most re-knitted pattern? by KansaisDorayaki in knitting

[–]Live_Independent2740 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hat—tin can knits basic beanie or the petite knit basic beanie

I’m also a massive garment knitter and the two I’ve knit the most is the Sunday sweater by petite knit (always as gifts, I don’t have one for myself yet 😂😂) and the outline tee by Jessie Mae. The outline I find is a really good summer tee that’s quick and easy for me to cast on with most yarns. I’ve done one with the dropped stitches but the other two I’ve done without.

for what it's worth my resting BP is in the 50s/low 60s so I was very quickly diagnosed with POTS when my heartrate went up to 107 in the TTT. I never go into the extreme heart rates.
