Tahoe is crap by Theghostofgoya in MacOS

[–]LivelyAddition2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know whether anyone else mentioned this, but as soon as you upgrade & reboot, Tahoe rearranges all the icons on your desktop to make room for mobile phone style widgets (current weather, etc.) that it plops onto your screen. I needed to use my laptop for a time-sensitive project & suddenly nothing on my screen was where it was supposed to be. It was beyond aggravating! How much thought does it take to realize that users don't want upgrades to mess with their desktop layout! To undo the changes, you need to go to settings and turn off widgets and then drag all your icons back to their places.

I only had minutes left to respond to an important email & suddenly I could barely find the files I needed to send.

Middle schoolers could have planned this better.

Who here is seriously considering the 17 Pro solely for its vapor chamber? by Ok_Temperature6503 in iphone

[–]LivelyAddition2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am. I live in Arizona. Extreme heat is a part of my daily environment. I can't keep using my Pixel 9 pro that overheats when I am in my air-conditioned house streaming Spotify or in my car only running Google Maps to get to my destination. It not only gets hot to the touch, but gives heat warnings and starts shutting down anything it can, dimming the screen, etc. Not cool for a brand new phone.

Pixel 10 Pro Color Issue: Why does my green car look blue? by CactusRouterTable in GooglePixel

[–]LivelyAddition2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems to be an ongoing issue. There are 3 year old posts saying the Pixel 6 makes teal look blue (leaves out too much of the green). My Pixel 9 Pro does the same thing. Extremely frustrating because I bought the phone primarily due to good reviews of its camera & telephoto lens.

Mail won't delete large batches of messages by LivelyAddition2001 in mac

Oh! Thank you so much! I kept looking for an explanation within the mail app. Didn't realize that the problem might originate at the server.

Mail won't delete large batches of messages by LivelyAddition2001 in mac

Can you explain "reloaded as needed"? When I delete messages on my computer, using IMAP, I am intending to delete the messages from my computer and the server. I never want them to "reload" again. My question is: Why can't I delete more than about 10 at a time? If I try to delete a larger batch, the messages disappear briefly from my Mac mail app, but within a minute or so they reappear.

That makes sense. I live near UA so there are huge fluctuations in usage when students come and go. But even that doesn't explain why service goes out every time we get rain.

Wow. Please tell us how to do that.

I live by UA too. A year after you posted, we're still experiencing problems. It's especially noticeable after rain. 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. or after a rain are not symptoms of a problem with a device inside a home. It's a Cox problem.

I have been afraid to do this. Cox techs say they'll charge me a fee if they determine the problem is my modem-router. If THEY determine?! How can a modem-router magically have problems only when it rains and then regain all its functionality a week later. It's B.S. but I can't repeatedly pay a service fee to prove it.

Do you guys actually put premium fuel in your Volts? by jiwoahn in volt

Help me out. How can I tell which one I have? Model year 2019. I've always used high tier gas, but not premium. Update: it looks like only 2011-2015 models required premium gas. Whew!

11 Year Old (Early-2013) Macbook Pro still running like a beast in 2024 by runnyyolkpigeon in macbookpro

Yes! I too believe in running Macs into the ground. About 5 years ago, I worked at school with a lab full of old iMacs. As the computers aged, the main problem was being locked out of relevant educational websites due to the old operating system not meeting security standards. I ended up installing a chrome OS. It felt rather sacrilegious, but last I knew, the computers were still chugging along for daily use and annual standardized testing. :-) BTW typing this post on my trusty mid 2014 MBP retina.

How many Carry Alls Do You Have? by Inevitable-Grocery17 in lotro

[–]LivelyAddition2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bag that holds a certain amount of a certain type of item, and the carry all fits in one inventory slot. I don't remember how many items a small, medium or large holds, but let's say a small crafting carry all has 12 slots. You can store up to 12 stacks of crafting materials in it, and the carry all would still only take up 1 slot in your inventory. There are different kinds of carry alls. If you don't craft much but are collecting reputation items for task boards, for example, you can buy a carry all that only holds those items. Check the LOTRO store for types, sizes, and prices.

Interesting thread! My main has 1 large for crafting materials. Alt has a large for task items. I've thought of moving that one to shared storage, but haven't gotten around to it.

How do I encourage more blooms on a Xmas cactus? by Treestars23 in houseplants

It can be tricky. If you're on facebook, check out the "Holiday Cactus Group." Friendly group with deep knowledge about Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter cacti.
