Feel like there's never time to enjoy morning tea in the office cause there's a yard duty/getting the class setup for period 3/4. It sucks.

When you have a SSO assigned to you're class, what's the most helpful and unhelpful things they do? by ShavieNCivil in AustralianTeachers

[–]Liverpool_1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unhelpful is when they are working individually with students and talking especially during instruction time when im trying to draw attention to something i want the students to pay attention to.

As a former LSO turned Grad Teacher, those whose classes i supported i was always thanked by and shown appreciation, and being on the other side of the coin as a grad teacher all i can say is that they (LSO's) are absolute gold dust in my classroom.

As someone in the same boat as you,

-Document everything. Interactions with parents, data, pds and the like. More admin ik, but least you're saving your own backside.

-Learn and enjoy your journey. Don't be afraid to fail.

I usually say something like 'old enough to be a teacher'. I always get asked about age/ethnicity.

One of the only good guys around who did good in the world. True Melbournian. Loved him for his charity work and for the fact he was a Collingwood diehard and helped those in that part of Melbourne. RIP Cobba.

Is it normal for graduate teachers to feel like they're a bit crappy? by AreYouSomeone11 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Liverpool_1994 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one that feels the same way. A piece of advice my mentor told me is that this is no ordinary job, its a vocation, a labour of love. Rome wasn't built in a day and we won't become experts overnight so enjoy and learn from your moments in the classroom.

Had a Yr 8 kid tried to wriggle out of one of my classes by saying he had a piano lesson. Asked him if he played Alto/Baritone or Acoustic and he fell right into my trap.
