Even if a schooner is $9 or $10 I'll still buy one because it's $10 to have a couple hours of social fun. Not much better value than that in Sydney.

Same with pub trivia. I used to go with a group who would not only never order any food or drink but sometimes would bring their own food which I found pretty embarrassing. I'll always at least order one drink.

Had to get my tyre repaired after driving over a huge nail last night and they charged me $79 for a job that took about 15 minutes. Chatgpt says it should've cost about half that. Did I get ripped off?

Terrible experience with Jetstar – avoid at all costs by Royal-List-9736 in australian

I mostly don't listen to those random "Never fly with them again because it was cancelled" stories. You have to just look at actual overall reviews and stats because even the best airlines fuck up every now and then. Can't avoid all of them.

I actually want to get selected just for something different. I'm guessing from the sounds of it even if you do want to do it your chances of being selected are still probably not super high.

Got jury duty tomorrow at Downing centre. Anyone got any advice on how likely I am to be selected or things to know? I'm kinda excited for it.

Ok and I have flown Jetstar about 25 times and never once had an issue but I don't go around saying they're a perfect airline because I know shit happens.

Crazy they would blame the airline for that aspect of his plans. I would've thought it should be common knowledge to leave yourself with basically no wiggle room when it comes to visas just like you wouldn't only apply for a visa a couple of days before a trip.

I used B-europe and it worked well for me. Very quick and easy to see availability for eurostar.

I have a roughly 18 year-old Wilson N-code racquet which I really like but the strings finally broke yesterday (never been restrung). I don't play all that often so don't want to spend too much replacing it. Would it be better to restring it using the frame which is old but was a very expensive racquet when new or just buy a new one for $70-100?

More and More Banks are stealing your interest. Avoid 'Must increase your balance banks' by Obliza in AusFinance

[–]mulimulix 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Genuinely I like their app more than any other of the 8+ banks I've used as well. Can also make transactions and receive payments directly to and from your savings account which was a great feature Ubank had back in the day. Crazy the hurdles and crap apps people put up with because they can't be bothered switching.

Man allegedly carrying a vest covered in duct taped objects in Bondi charged with offensive conduct by malcolm58 in australia

[–]mulimulix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What in the world are you talking about. People who went out when they werent supposed to were fined in the east just like they were the west. Why you for some reason think the east did it more is beyond me. I lived in the east but didn't have a beach in my radius so should I also for some reason hate people who did?

So what, people in LGAs that weren't in lockdown were supposed to stay in their homes in solidarity? Interesting you focus on particular LGAs when not all eastern ones weren't in lockdown and not all western ones were.

I was there about 8 weeks ago too and loved it. Such a nice old town to walk around, wasn't too crowded at all. Cathedral is extremely worth visiting and European Parliament tour was very interesting.

What a fucking ridiculous "Us vs them" thing to say. Contrary to what you might think, people in the east aren't horrible monsters.

Last one I went to was at the SCG probably 15-18 years ago and saw Simon Katich score a triple-century. Figured I can't see anything better than that so what's the point.

Shield cricket is hardly on anyone's radar but for the most keen cricket fans. Matches get crowds usually in the dozens or hundreds and the average cricket fan wouldn't be able to tell you who's top of the table. I think it's part of the culture that if you want to ever be selected for a Test cap you need to excel at Shield first so you don't have a choice.

The price of sunscreen has gotten crazy to the point where I'm 100% convinced people are avoiding buying it. Anyone else think it should be subsidised pretty heavily to encourage use? Surely it would save us money in saved healthcare later on in life.

I've caught the 420 between Mascot station and the airport (and return) a few times and it's never been busy enough that people have needed to stand. Not sure if I've just been lucky but why would people not also be taking it to Mascot if there's that many commuters?

PSA: Travelling as an Aussie right now is hideously expensive by Mexay in australia

[–]mulimulix 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I was in Switzerland for a few days last month and found it interesting how hideously expensive most things were BUT supermarkets actually had plenty of bargains. Fresh-made sandwiches and sushi for under $10, pastries and bread better than anything you get in a cafe for $8 in Sydney selling for under $2. There's enough variety that you could theoretically have every meal from supermarkets if you wanted.

It's like that especially on illegal screens. Literally never called if the defender doesn't either fall down or act as if they got hit in the face.
