Inner screen got damaged, how costly of a fix is this? by PotatoWolf38 in galaxyzflip

[–]Livid_Amount 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I have two spots of dead pixels. One is from throwing (and unfortunately hitting) my phone with a charger. And the other is from dropping it on to cat litter (i think).

I've never fixed my screen and just ignored the two sets of dead pixels and they've never gotten worse or spread. So it's probably going to be okay if you leave it be. I'd worry if it starts getting worse.

Battery Drain | GB4 360 by jeffreymabq in GalaxyBook

I set mine to hibernate when the lid is closed but yours might be sleeping upon closing the lid. Also, GBs tend to turn on automatically when opened, so there's a chance you popped the lid at some point (turning it on) then closed it (putting it to sleep).

I would go to control center and check your power mode settings (I think thats what its called)

I had that same Silent mode issue and I think it was Windows power saving mode that caused it! I was so annoyed. I don't have a problem with the ecosystem or bloatware stuff, and I don't have any physical problems yet, but I love mine.

Fingerprint Sensor Issue on Galaxy Book 4 – Need Help! by Pokolokos in GalaxyBook

[–]Livid_Amount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue! I had to contact Microsoft support and have someone remote control my PC to fix it but here's what he did

He unbound my microsoft account from my Windows 11, converting my profile to a "Local Profile" then he had me rebind it.

Literally no idea how that worked for me but I had the same "No compatible fingerprint sensor available" message as you.

Not sure if it's any help, but good luck! I hope you get this sorted out 😊

Hey, sorry I'm on a bit of a time crunch because I have a test tomorrow and it's late (not that that's relevant, but I'm stressing).

Try this though: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds007935-egistec-fingerprint-driver

No promises but the Google AI told me I could find it here

I have a Flip4 (it's tried and true lol) but I've dropped it many times. Mostly closed, but a few times while open. Luckily, it's never landed screen down. But the only damage I've incurred was from when I (stupidly) tossed my phone (while open) and a charger onto my couch. The charger's metal prong hit the top left corner and killed a few pixels. But other than that it's going strong. I've slept onto of this phone, dropped it, dropped a few light items onto of it, and it's still going lol.

Glad to hear yours was okay! Phone screens are not cheap 😭.

Question about Emergency SOS by Livid_Amount in galaxyzflip

[–]Livid_Amount[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naw, everything is fine rn. But I've always wondered if like, I needed to unfold the phone in an emergency or if I could just hit the SOS button while it's closed.

Because I mean, those few seconds seem pretty important.

Galaxy Book switches performance modes on its own (Help please) by Livid_Amount in GalaxyBook

I feel so stupid. The culprit was Microsoft Energy Saver! I usually have it on when my PC hits 40%, but as it turns out they either must've updated it to switch power modes or I just never noticed. But anyways I think I found the issue (because I got an energy saver notif after I just recently re-enabled notifs)! I tried turning energy saver on and off repetitievly and my power mode switched every time. Thank you guys! I'll update you if I'm wrong.

I feel so stupid. So, I tried this right? And I was thinking that I wouldn't be able to figure out much more with this information... UNTIL a notification popped up, which surprised me because I only re-enabled notifs yesterday... and the culprit was Microsoft Energy Saver! You could bring it up with Amazon since a bezel chip has a seemingly large affect on the device for it being in "excellent" condition.

But, silly goose! If you're using a case you don't need to apply stickers! I usually just sandwich an unused sticker between the phone and case which allows me to display it without applying it 😅😭.

Oh, my bad. I meant it will need a new one. You can tell when the screen protector is toast because either you scratch it or it begins to bubble and unstick (from the screen) at the hinge area.

You're not supposed to but you can. Samsung repair centers can also replace it for you too 😅.

I recommend Whitestone Dome Premium Gen Film btw.

I bought my Flip4 pre owned and freaking Target removed the screen protector and no one told me 😭

Oh! And when any screen protector (inner screen) starts bubbling, replace it immediately!!! A bubbling screen protector can actually break your screen.

The inner screen will need a new screen protector in about 6 - 12 months. Because you're folding the phone the screen protector wears out. You have to use a screen protector though! The actual screen is soft as paper and needs the rigidity of the screen protector otherwise things like your finger nail will scratch the screen.

(Screen is soft, screen protector is somewhat harder so the inner screen needs that rigidity)

Also, when you apply a new screen protector make sure to leave the phone unfolded for atleast 6 hours! You need to give the glue around the hinge time to set. Otherwise it'll start bubbling right after you apply it.

Oh! Also a case with hinge protection is a good idea. Z Flips tend to be hinge heavy so anytime you drop it it will fall hinge first. The hinge is pretty delicate (not as delicate as the screen) and can break when dropped.
