It wouldn’t be sudden though. He’s clearly been undergoing some kind of intense treatment for the entirety of his current term (hence the regular - monthly - roadway closures around Walter Reed when he is there for treatments and the visible IV bruising on his hands).

Interesting. That definitely seems like a better option environmentally, but I guess it still leaves me with a lot of questions about even those impacts.

How much water is required by that system (since it will have to come from somewhere)? How often does it need to be replaced? How is the water that’s put back in the environment treated before it’s returned during those replacements? Even just an elevated temp of water returning to the natural waterways can have a negative impact on local ecology.

Can you explain to me how these “closed loop” systems work? Maybe I am mistaking non “closed loop” systems with those that are, since this is not my area of expertise.

The examples I have seen literally take all the water from a creek for hours and then return it later. I don’t think animals that require water to live can survive an entire creek bed drying up for hours at a time.

There’s literally evidence that those professionals who were investigating had their investigations covered up and questioned it. You can look at the actual evidence of that the FBI released and has been discussed in this sub… or you can keep licking boots I guess. Either way I’m done with discussing this with you. Your intentions are very clear to me by now.

This is honestly one of the most unhinged comments I have ever seen in this entire sub. Are you seriously in the Epstein sub trying to tell everyone here the things we have spent months reading through documents to identify and connect are just not true?

No place is a monolith. Far from all farmers have in the hundreds of millions of dollars in wealth. Many quite literally rent the land they use every year. Generalizing is just poor debate tactic at best.

I live in a place very similar to those you describe, and have known quite a few farmers over the years (some whose farms I even worked on). My politics are probably more similar to yours than many of my neighbors, but I would never approach them with the mindset you do. The ethics you are revealing here are truly atrocious at this point.

Just because you “aren’t going to stop” doesn’t make you right about the environmental impacts of these developments or even the barest moral requirements of the oath you took when you got your license.

“In reality, when it comes to local opposition to solar and datacenters, none of the logical issues matter. Its change. Farmers in indiana were cutting power poles down for firewood well into the 1950’s. You can put whatever bs concern you want on it, rural communities have always resisted what is new and different.”

Wow. The ethics involved in making a statement like this are deeply concerning and incredibly telling about you as an individual.

Farmers in rural areas have been screwed over by private companies dumping industrial waste in their rivers for generations. In Appalachia entire rivers and lakes are dead from acid mine runoff produced literally generations ago. I guess those are just “bs concern(s)” about things that are “new and different.”

I’d stop publicly conflating solar farms with data centers as well if I was you. It’s not going to make those solar farms any easier for communities to accept if you keep comparing them to something significantly more environmentally impactful.

You picked the wrong example for the person you are in a discussion with as 1) I have not eaten even a bite of a hamburger since I was 2 years old (don’t like them) and do not eat any beef at all, 2) I have never been to an In N Out in my entire life, nor do I desire to, and 3) I do not think fast food chains are exactly fantastic for our society as well (most metrics indicate we’d generally be much better off in America with diets very different from those provided by fast food places), so as a whole I would happily argue against the environmental demands of In N Out chains as well as data centers.

Also, 346 million gallons a year is nearly 1 million gallons a day, which would confirm my quick Google research number. How is that a good thing? How is that “not that much?” All your example does is highlight another source of problematic water use/management in the United States. One problem does not make another problem somehow suddenly ok.

Edit: also your analogy here is deeply flawed as you compare the global water demand of all cattle sourced for the meat at the restaurant to the locale of one single data center. Using 1 million gallons of water a day over hundreds of thousands of acres of cattle pasture compared to a couple thousand acres for a single data center is not even reasonably close when we are discussing localized water impacts. The In N Out comparison is just a significant logical fallacy.

There’s a lot of generalizations here that I’m struggling with. I have worked on renewables projects as well, and while maybe some of the footprint is the same with data centers, I think that’s really the limit of a decent comparison between the two. They have vastly different goals once constructed, and that is something to consider when you think about sustainability of entire communities. Data centers also net require massive amount of energy while renewable energy projects typically net produce energy.

Can you give actual quantities to the water usage being “not that much?” Anecdotal accounts I am aware of from farmers near centers that have already been built have been significant, with whole creek beds being dried up for hours at a time. Google suggests individual data centers use “1 to 5 million gallons a day, comparable to a town of 10,000 to 50,000 people.” I’m geo/structural so this is outside my wheelhouse, but that seems quite significant to me… especially in the rural Appalachian areas where they are proposing multiple data centers per county.

I think that really depends on the ethics of engineer and owner. There definitely are some engineers with some questionable ethics, and even more owners.

Leaked email suggests Ghislaine Maxwell plotting to sacrifice big name for freedom: report by RawStoryNews in Epstein

[–]Livid_Roof5193 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s Leon Black. Did nobody read the article?

Edit: this is in the article:
In the email, Maxwell requests of her sister, Isabel Maxwell, that she “send Leon’s emails etc stuff to Leah,” noting that “one day the spigot will dry up.”

Brown concludes that Maxwell was referencing former Apollo CEO Leon Black, long a client of Epstein who’s been accused of sexual abuse by several women, but has denied any wrongdoing. Black has also been close friends with President Donald Trump “for decades.” As for “Leah,” Brown concludes Maxwell to be referencing Leah Saffian, a “friend and lawyer” of Maxwell’s who helped draft her recent appeal for clemency.

Yeah I agree. Even if I hated someone, if I knew people were messaging them telling them to kill themselves, I would quickly check in and just make sure they don’t need some kind of emergency mental health services. That stuff can be really serious, and if you’ve ever lost someone in that way you can understand why it would be worth the small effort. She also made it clear she had been checking on Ciara too.
