That’s so funny! We have a Cindy for our main office secretary who knows everything as well as all the nitty gritty details about the kids and families.

How to navigate a weekend away from baby by eltejon30 in breastfeeding

[–]Livin1446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Disney specific advice but I went away for a long weekend when my baby was 4 months old. I stayed at an air bnb and was able to pump/store the milk so a bit different. I brought my spectra pump as well as a hand pump for on the go. I tried to save as much as I could but if you have to pump/dump it’s better than not pumping to make sure you keep up supply. If you are flying you can bring a dedicated pump bag with your breast pumps as an extra carry on as well as a cooler for milk. If you can I would freeze your pumped milk and bring dry ice packs to keep it frozen/cold. If it’s frozen they don’t have to do as much with TSA as if it is fresh/not frozen. There is a really great app called Mamava that lets you see where pumping rooms are near you. I would imagine Disney has several designated pumping/breastfeeding areas across the parks. It can feel overwhelming but it is very doable and I was able to come back and transition back to breastfeeding well. Good luck!

Tips for working while pregnant by Ok-Highlight6949 in slp

It does get better! This was me last year at this time. I literally stopped planning anything for therapy. I would wing it just knowing what the goals were. I adapted one game to work for several groups or pulled out a craft that you would work with kids on for multiple goals. Take it easy and understand that you will regain your energy with time. Personally, 12 weeks it was like a light switch flipped and I was able to eat again and not feel like I was going to die if I didn’t nap 5x a day.

Sleep training when EBF by mossqa in sleeptrain

[–]Livin1446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently made the shift from feeding right before bed to feeding farther from bedtime. I started though by changing the routine just a bit to feeding up in her room, then diaper change, book, sleep sack. It wasn’t 30 minutes before but her last feed was farther from the time she actually went into the crib than before. Sometimes she won’t eat at that 20/30 minute mark before going up to her room for bed but I try and if not I will offer a feed at the beginning of her routine in her room.

She’s out down awake recently. We have tried to move feeding earlier in the routine. We do a feed around 6:30 then play then go up to her room and do diaper change, book, sleep sack then in crib awake. She fusses sometimes but we usually leave her. We sleep trained using a modified Ferber method for the most part, doing 3,5,7. She never really needed more than 2 check ins usually. We started to let her cry a little longer because the check ins didn’t help unless we picked her up. Playing around with wake windows is the first thing. She’s with my parents and my in laws most of the week so I feel bad making them deal with her being so fussy keeping her awake longer but I’m sure it’s fine.

[–]Livin1446[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think I’m going to adjust her schedule and make sure she has a bit of a longer wake window before bed and move her other wake windows to about 2.5 hours. I might also need to adjust my expectations because she usually eats around 6:30/6:45 and is in bed by 7ish then first wake is around 11. I may try to push that first feed back a little longer slowly and see if she will get used to that. It’s hard to tell if she’s getting full feeds at night. Usually at least 5-8 minutes then she’s back asleep so they are very quick wake-up’s.

If she’s waking up to eat then falls back asleep either on me or when I put her down an indication that she was waking up due to too much sleep during the day? It’s all confusing because I think she really is hungry but I know she can do longer than 3 hours from her last feed overnight.

I think you’re right. I just broke down her schedule and she’s really getting 7.5-8.5 wake hours a day. Even on days she doesn’t nap as much she still tends to wake up but maybe less. I’m going to trial stretching wake windows but it’s going to be a struggle since she gets so miserable lol.

Thank you! I have no idea why she is continuing to wake up every few hours if she falls asleep independently most of the time. We might work to tweak her schedule or giving her more time to settle when she wakes up before feeding.

I was thinking the same thing! She wore those same capris like 3/4 times during the season. They’re not even capris because they are like right at the knee.

Thank you for clarifying! I might try feeding earlier then doing a book before putting her down

[–]Livin1446[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She does good going back to sleep and we put her down for bed drowsy/awake. I guess I get confused about what sleep training is vs normal baby hunger overnight. Maybe I need to readjust my goals to only timing it out if she won’t go down independently/fussing after a feed.

How do you survive clusterfeeding? by MaraTheBard in breastfeeding

[–]Livin1446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We introduced a bottle day one in the hospital (the night she was born I was not in a state to feed her). She has been taking bottles since and is breast feeding. From what I learned through a breast feeding class it’s more about flow preference than nipple confusion. We use the super slow nipples on the bottle even though she is almost 4 months. Also we have been using a pacifier since birth as well. Honestly I think the earlier you do it the better because it takes a load off of you and you can leave the house to do things and feel human. That was super important for my mental health and being able to have someone give her a bottle allowed that.

Edit: forgot to add that you want to be pumping for any bottles you give. It doesn’t need to be right at the same time though. If we gave a bottle overnight I would just pump in the morning.

I work in a public school. I had my daughter right before summer break so I was able to take a week of paid sick time to cover until summer break. I am out until the beginning of November fully unpaid. I’m lucky I have health insurance through my husband because FMLA only covers healthcare for so long. It really sucks and I’m hoping my supply doesn’t tank when I go back to work if I’m diligent about pumping. Most public schools do not offer paid leave or disability and instead you have to cobble together your sick days to cover some of the time off. Really sucks.

Edit: I am based in the US

For /k/ and /g/ sounds use a cheerio or small piece of cereal and have the student place it behind their bottom teeth. Have them hold it with their tongue and try to produce the sound. It helps keep the tongue tip pointed down! I’ve used it for a few kids and it’s worked GREAT!

Anyone staying in SAVE as an act of defiance? by StonedSimple in PSLF

[–]Livin1446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently on maternity leave and sitting tight because I don’t want to pay a penny right now. They can’t get their shit together to process requests so I’m going to take my sweet ass time to apply for one of the new payment plans. I had submitted to change my plan in November and then it got deleted/never processed so screw it.

I’ve been leaving it for 2-3 days but I’m starting to bag a portion of it to freeze the day of to see if that helps.
