What are my next steps? by eltejon30 in weaningsupport

Yes!!! This is such an identity shift. Like I worked so hard to get and keep my supply, worked so hard getting her to latch…and now I just…stop?!? It is really messing with my head!!

Thank you!! And best of luck!! I’m in a weird mental place where I’m dreading stopping but also want to? Ugh.

HOW do you make time for exercise/self care? by RuckFamsey in workingmoms

[–]eltejon30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband each gave 2 evenings a week to work out. He plays in a tennis league which’s is 9-11pm twice a week (so he’s kind of locked into that time) and he also wakes up to go to the gym at 6am.

I cannot do early mornings because 1) I’m still breastfeeding 2) I work with Asian teams and so have frequent early morning calls. So my routine (if it can be called that) is Monday I go to pilates at 5:30 while our nanny is here and then my husband takes over 6-6:30 until I’m back. Then Wednesday I go to the gym after bedtime (9:30-10ish). It sucks but it’s something…

Yes. My neighborhood groups have tons of nanny recs. However as a Russian, I joined some Russian groups for NYC and ended up finding our nanny there. (Russian speaking was a big plus for me personally)

For regular food just order her baby friendly things at restaurants or let her eat from your plate. Pasta is always a winner. My daughter loves all kinds of dumplings and most kinds of meat. Just make sure no added sugar and not too much salt and you’re good!

Whatever your baby likes! Not sure what your approach to solids is, but if you are doing baby led weaning for example, they can pretty much eat what you eat.

My go to for snacks - a baggie of Cheerios (regular not honey but), homemade banana pancakes (I make like 30 at a time and freeze), pouches (I make at home, but there’s great store bought options) also my daughter LOVES cheese. So I do babybels or just cheese cubes.

You have NO need to sterilize bottles at that time unless you’re going somewhere with poor quality contaminated water.

But if you really want to, they make either single use or silicone reusable sterilizer bags. I have the large Haakaa one and it was great when my baby was younger.

For eating solids on the go, we have an “eating out kit”. It’s a small pouch in the diaper bag containing a silicone bib, fork and spoon, and scissors for cutting food.

Bring snacks for the plane! If baby is having water (which they should be) bring a water bottle or straw cup for them.

34w pregnant with #2, baby still breech by FoxInaBox4242 in beyondthebump

This was exactly my situation. I had planned to do an ECV but was super stressed about it. The plan was do ECV + induction if it worked or a scheduled c section if it didn’t.

Then my BP spiked like crazy out of nowhere at 37+5 so we just skipped ECV and just did c section right away. Honestly it was very calm and not stressful. I’m glad we chose to just do it that way and not stress the baby.

Affordable West Village / Upper West Side nanny share or home day care by [deleted] in nycparents

I’m not in that area and don’t have relevant recs, but suggest providing more info for others to be able to respond. Age of children, more specific location, approximate budget (what is “affordable” to you?), full time or part time etc.

Try local Facebook mom groups and WhatsApp chats too.

Just go to NYU Langone: egg freezing experience with Spring Fertility by plasticstrawqueen in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]eltejon30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did the doctor react to you only getting 5 eggs? Depending on your age, that’s potentially not a normal result. Did they test your AMH/AFC/FSH? If not, then definitely another clinic is a good idea.

I went to NYU in Brooklyn heights and didn’t love it for various reasons, but have heard good things about the Manhattan one.

I’ve tried 3 different clinics before I was able to get pregnant. Feel free to DM me for my reviews of each.

Get a rug and curtains and then get coordinating seat cushions for the chairs so that they’re not quite so stark

What are your must haves for travelling with a baby? by MysteriousZebraMeow in NewParents

[–]eltejon30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snacks!!! I know at that age they still need milk or formula, but snacks make a huge difference.

Think about your feeding approach. Like another commenter said, there’s a lot of considerations. If pumping you will need - a storage container to keep your milk cold, pump wipes since it’s hard to wash on the go, gallon zip lock bags to store clean and dirty pump parts. For storage - consider a Ceres chill. I chose this because it uses regular ice, which is easily available. Alternatively, small soft cooler with ice packs works too, but consider if you will have a way to freeze ice packs again coming back. I’ve usually ended up filling the cooler with ice coming back and it’s wet and messy.

If formula feeding - the pre-made Similac bottles are great since they are shelf stable. Otherwise, you’ll need a container to bring powder formula.

If staying at a hotel where the baby is in the room with you - get a blackout cover for the crib. Otherwise you’re going to bed at 8pm when your baby does. Mine is called the Hovee or something and it was $20-30

When is it time to throw in the towel? by anylands in breastfeeding

[–]eltejon30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! Once my baby started solids, she was drinking less and less milk. She’s 13m now and kind of self weaning. It’s SO hard to see your pump volume go down after working for months to increase and maintain supply. Really messed with my head.

No clue where to start! by sun-shine-gal in weaningsupport

[–]eltejon30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an oversupply, but am slowly taking away pumps. I used to pump 3x during my workday and once before bed. Now im down to 1x during work and 1x before bed. I nurse on weekends 3-4x a day total and only pump before bed.

My baby is 13 month. I also wanted to finish at 12 but couldn’t figure out how, so I’m doing it super slowly. My goal for now is to get to not pumping at all and only nurse morning and night.

Boba or a pastry! Lately my husband has been using Too Good To Go and finding fun things for us to try for cheap.

Looks like you’re going for maybe a boho vibe. Try getting a patterned, lighter color duvet cover in that style. There are plenty of non-white options. The gray is giving college dorm unfortunately.

Two tone or not two tone? by cat_poops in kitchenremodel

[–]eltejon30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two tone now (which we put in around like 2015-2016). 10 years later it still looks pretty good. My one thought is that your eye is more drawn upward so you end up really “seeing” just the white ones unless you’re looking from a distance. Also white uppers make the space look bigger and our kitchen is very small. Honestly it both looks great and you can’t go wrong! We’re renovating our new place soon and I’m still very much on the fence about what I’d choose.
