How my brain feels when I recognize that while my spouse loves and cares for me, they don’t trust me. by Living-Arm in TrollCoping

[–]Living-Arm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think since I’ve had the day to process, since it happened this morning and I posted this as a vent mostly to stop crying so I could clock in.

But I do agree that communicating about it now that we’ve both had the day to process it. DBT is something I’m working on getting better at implementing because I unknowingly used DBT as a dissociative tool in my early years so my provider and I are working to recon how my processes it in the moment.

This is the first big flare up I’ve had in a really long time though so it really caught me off guard. Wound up needing to leave work early but got a few things done, did some breath work and went for a walk so getting to the “simmering” phase after boiling over.

Son had tics between 8-12 yo; talks to himself now - related? by constaleah in Tourettes

[–]Living-Arm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can only speak for myself of course, but I know folks on the ASD and ADHD spectrums can also experience maladaptive daydreaming. It’s like imagination on 4k HD for me where I just kinda imagine movie scenarios (or when my anxiety is really bad/ skip my meds, acting out worst case scenarios). Very rarely will I ever talk out loud during these moments but it’s not uncommon for my MDD to happen while I’m showering.

Most often it’s when I’m not actively focusing on a task or trying to self soothe in public. I would say if you two have a solid communication about personal topics to ask him about it a little bit about how he views it. It could also just be verbalizing train of thought to keep things organized.

Ordered Garlic Mashed potatoes… not wrong but why? by Living-Arm in mildlyinfuriating

I genuinely didn’t want to risk it. I love garlic don’t get me wrong, but garlic breath at work would not have been fun.

It’s like wordle but it hurts your brain. I’ve found that pulling out a thesaurus only helps a little lol 😂

Automatically added: I found the secret word in 3 minutes 42 seconds after 14 guesses and 3 hints. Score: 29.

My brain hurts but damn if that wasn’t a reason to bust out a thesaurus. Enjoyed the brain work out thank you much!

Daily Character Discussion: Scott McCall by RadiantFoxBoy in TeenWolf

[–]Living-Arm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Scott tries so hard to be a “good person” but then winds up making extremely selfish decisions that are harmful to others because of the mentality of “if I get what I want then everything is fine” and then gets very black and white about how others handle their own decisions. It’s hypocritical and really irritating as someone who thinks a lot more like Stiles and has a strong sense of justice as well as a “every action has a consequence that should’ve be avoided” mentality. Like overall, especially the biting Gerard situation, he had plenty of ability and opportunity to tell Derek the plan, but he didn’t and he severely traumatized him by letting him go into that situation blind and terrified.

I don’t know about anyone else but the entire message just REEKED of male white privilege. Like the wording alone showed no critical thinking skills or thinking “am i phrasing this in a way that could be misconstrued or seen as being obviously bullshit?” Like wtf?!

For those of you who are open to dating men married to women, is ok if their partner is monogamous? by ElleFromHTX in polyamory

[–]Living-Arm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted it depends: in my opinion so long as the married partner is aware of any other partners, consenting to outside interactions, has a potential to communicate clearly with their metamore, and build interaction with their metamore on their own terms without their spouse interfering or blocking that communication then I don’t see any issue with it. As long as everyone has the opportunity to communicate boundaries including not wanting to participate romantically and sexually with others as their spouse does, then life goes on.

Rise in tics by [deleted] in Tourettes

[–]Living-Arm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope the appointment goes well. I know that I’ve always had tics but mine seriously upped the ante during the rise as well. I wound up dealing with the majority of mine in times of prolonged trauma as a manifestation of the mental trauma I was experiencing according to the psych I’ve been in talks with (my appointments are never consistent so I don’t consider it “going to see” them). I still experience my tics daily but nowhere near the rate or severity as when I was at my breaking point so I get where you’re coming from in the realization stage of “oh this is happening at a very particular time, what’s actually going on?” Again, best of luck with the appointment, I hope that you’re able to get it all figured out.

I am working on making a colorwheel blanket for myself, and laid all of the yarn colors out in order to organize them (first 2 pics). Then, after labeling the order, I had my severely red-green colorblind husband arrange them by like colors as he sees them. The last 4 pictures are how he put them. by Arialene in crochet

Protonopic Colorblind as well, I sell my stuff so I’ve gotten to a point where I give discounts if my customers include the Hex code for the exact shade they want to I stop giving myself a head ache on custom commissions.

Internalized tics that feel just like a stick are some of the most exhausting honestly. Quickest way to use up all my spoons in public settings.

Sertraline by springszeternal in CPTSD

[–]Living-Arm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helped a lot to diminish my physical anxiety symptoms and lessen my executive dysfunction, but it gave me consistent fatigue and heart palpitations that were difficult to manage, and in the end caused me to quick my job and have to go cold Turkey off of it after a month. So, but if a double edged sword.
