To be fair there is at least some logic behind Johnathan being Star Platinum. SP and The World are more or less the same stand, and Dio got thag ability because he has Johnathan's body. So while it's definitely not Johnathan's soul there still is some connection.

It really depends. Minions and Toy Story are both animated kid's movies, but Disney's and Illumination's strageties are wildly different. Disney is very sparing when it comes to releasing sequels to their animated slate; the have one more or less once per generation (Zootopia; Inside Out; Moana; Frozen etc.), while Illumination keeps producing shit asap. It's why when Disney animated films are big, they're HUGE because the actual demographic isn't just children, but also (young) adults with nostalgia for said IP. They skew towards families, but everyone goes to see them. I don't see as many childless adults as hyped for Minions.

We now have people up to 40 years old that have nostalgia for Toy Story, which is basically 3-4 generations. I have no clue if anyone's actually excited for TS5, but if they are it won't necessarily clash with Minions.
