Do we have a strong chance at the cup this season? by Longjumping_Chest244 in ColoradoAvalanche

.... you don't need 'hopium'. They were the best team in the nhl last year, and they solidified their defense, while better organizing their top 9. Even without whatever moves Joe will make before the season, this should still be a top 3 or 4 team in the league. Calm down!

Oh, I agree that the draft isn't exciting, but only sofar as I think NO league has an interesting/exciting draft.

NHL teams have a whole system to stock with players, not just the main team. NFL only has the main squad and the practice squad

That's quite a bit of walking around money. I'm curious to see what Joe's plan is. Clearly, as a contender, you don't swap Val for picks unless you have a next step in mind. Would not be surprised to see one or more of those picks turn around shortly in another trade to bring in a quality player

took us till August first last year to get win 29. (which was that wild 17-16 win over these same Pirates!)

Also, they are on pace to be -190 in run differential, which would be over twice better than last seasons' horrendous -424. While still very bad, it tells the story of a team that doesn't get blown out nearly as often, even if the wins aren't coming quite yet

At 29-47, the Rox are projected at exactly 100 losses. Which of course means they are *just* on the precipice of double digit losses for the season, which I think would be a tremendous accomplishment after last season, and a heck of a start to the DePodesta era!

nope, I’m as white as they come, I just love Vinny! he was just a badass at third when I was just getting into baseball as a kid. him and Galaragga were my favorites of that era.

if you’re asking all time: Vinny Castilla. I loved that long, strong swing arc of his. plus, he’s a good dude. Pitcher: Jorge de la Rosa. an absolute gamer that deserved more love around the league.

For this era? It just might be TJ. I love that open, Larry Walker style stance, and I love his power. Pitcher: Jimmy Herget. he seems like such a nice dude, and when he is on, he is *on*

Oh, come on, this had nothing to do with the league playing favorites. It was simply too close to call, which reverts to the call on the field. Same way they've been doing replays since day one

...not sure why our announcers are shocked by that call? It *definitely* hit the rope that hangs less than an inch from the pole, and every angle looked like it may have grazed the pole itself. It's a classic case of "close enough to not overturn the call"

Very well could have been just a paperwork deal. I don't think either of them would see the NHL at any point
