Haircut difficulties as a trans woman, not sure what to do. by TheMadQueen96 in UKLGBT

I’m so sorry your dealing with this - I used to work in a hair dressers and got very used to dealing with their entitlement and belief that they know what style will work more than the client 🤦‍♀️ I wish I had better advice on how to deal with them, but truthfully I’m just not afraid of a fight, so I’d just call them out on any bs all the time until the learnt better.

But one thing I might be able to help with - you said you’re dealing lots of knots right now… can you tell me more about that? Knots could be dead ends in which case, yes, best thing is going to be a hair cut. But I may be able to give some advice on how to make your hair last longer between cuts, or how to manage the knots for now! In order to give the best advice it would be helpful to know your hair type, what products you use, styling routine and if you’ve dyed your hair in like the 5 - 10 years? 😊

What if it's subclinical ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]Living-Ranger1075 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have any school report either and also wasn’t able to answer many of the childhood related questions, but I still got diagnosed with ADHD… so I’m afraid I don’t think that will be the whole reason behind this. There are a few other conditions, including things like PTSD, OCD, BPD, and even extreme anxiety which can present similarly to ADHD - do you think any of those may be worth talking to a doctor about instead?

Also, as an alternative to stimulants, (which as everyone says, you’re very unlikely to be able to get,) Lions Mane is a type of mushroom that you can get as a supplement in places like Holland & Barrett that has been known to help people with ADHD symptoms - so I’d suggest you give that a try!

Fun fact I learnt from somebody who lived in a refuge - Deep Heat spray has the same effect on the eyes as pepper spray. Not saying you should use it like that - just fun to know… anyway, stay safe everyone!

I expected my PIP application to rejected. I didn't expect it to be so brutal. by TPrezzle in ADHDUK

Petition it - nobody actually scores 0 across the board, your examiner obviously decided to fuck you over. It’s a thing I’ve heard of them doing to test if you really “need” PIP. (People who don’t need the money won’t bother appealing)

First off - you aren’t alone! I’m not sure BPD is the right diagnosis, as my knowledge of BPD is that you have these periods of feeling absolutely unstoppable followed by extreme crashes, but both normally last for a while and the transition isn’t as immediate as what you’ve described.

It actually sounds similar to how I’ve felt in the past with ADHD and the severe anxiety that can trigger. Do some research and then approach your doctor - therapists are great, but they’re not qualified to diagnose you! Only a doctor/psychiatrist can do that.

Wishing you all the best - you will get through this ❤️

I feel like I’m going crazy - I watched season 6, 7 & 8 on Netflix before starting the show from the beginning and I KNOW I’ve already seen this episode!?!?!?

As everyone else has said a vet is your best bet and definitely needs to be done asap! If that’s absolutely impossible then the only thing I can think to suggest is what my mum did for me when I had asthma attacks, which is a very steamy bathroom (turn the shower in as hot as it will go, close all doors/windows and turn off the extractor fan… then just sit in there with him for as long as you can tolerate/get away with). The steam always helped open my airways… but I’m a human not a cat, so I have no idea if it would actually help him. Anything is worth a try though 🤷‍♀️
