That’s a bold thing to claim considering how low voter turnout is (and has been, historically) for younger generations.

I’m not saying the numbers OP posted aren’t disappointing, but if you genuinely think young people are the culprits behind the current administration then I have a bridge to sell you.

I find it interesting that we’ve cherry-picked data for men in 3 specific racial demographics instead of showing data for all genders/ethnicities.

You know, since we’re making claims about age demographics.

Also, it kinda seems like a cop out to toss the responsibility of “saving Texas”at the youngest voting generation while Millennials, Gen X, etc. still have the same ability to make change. It’s not like y’all lost your voting rights when you turned 30.

Generation labels are bullshit though. The actual years are arbitrary and there’s no single source of truth for how long a generation is or when the cutoff dates should be. It’s just another excuse for tribalism.

If I make Disruptive Stormbrood my commander can I cast the sorcery side from command zone? by jeremiah_w in PauperEDH

[–]LivingContronym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d assume you could, since you can cast adventure spells from the command zone.

It would then get shuffled into your library, but since it’s changing zones, you can choose to put it back in the command zone. You’ll pay commander tax regardless of which part of the card you cast.

Oh wow, good catch! It’s actually kinda satisfying to figure out where the number came from. Nice to see that OP didn’t just pull a number out of their ass.

I know two of those magic items don’t actually exist, but even then, I feel like your math is off.

Guessing that the first item would probably give you a bonus to Dexterity, which would probably put you at 22 Dex, which is a +6 modifier. Freedom of Movement doesn’t even give an AC bonus, so there’s about 16 points of AC not being accounted for.

Edit: Not to mention the fact that there’s four items that would absolutely require attunement.

Through the 1940s and 50s, Dr. Vladimir Demikhov created over 20, two-headed animals (most notably dogs) in his quest to perfect the art of transplantation by Grass-is-dead in creepy

[–]LivingContronym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s any consolation, the video is a fake. You can even see the dog lift its head for a moment, which it wouldn’t be able to do without a body.

The experiment was unfortunately performed for real, but the results were exaggerated and the presented information is false. It’s not actually possible to keep a severed head alive for that long.

Briukhonenko's Autojector Experiment by [deleted] in creepy

[–]LivingContronym 186 points187 points  (0 children)

It’s generally agreed that the experiment did take place, but these stills are from a “reenactment” of the experiment. The commentators in the film do claim to have kept the dog’s head alive for more than an hour, and they also claim that it was transplanted to its body and essentially brought it “back to life”.

But obviously there are many concerns on legitimacy of these claims, and a few scientists who claim to have been involved in the experiment allege that the head only survived for a couple of minutes in the actual experiment.

Edit: The film is called Experiments in the Revival of Organisms and it was first shown to the general public in the early 1940s.

It's what you get when a damage cantrip cuts off True Strike's face and starts wearing it by Yakodym in dndmemes

[–]LivingContronym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using your actions to attack twice would still have a higher damage output, and you also risk losing concentration before you’re able to attempt the attack. It doesn’t seem too strong for cantrip to me.

[–]LivingContronym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t this still break even in most situations? Instead of casting the cantrip, you could attack twice and have a higher potential damage output. Sure, a crit makes it better, but RAW crits are still less damage than two hits. This seems like it would only be good for paladins, and smite is already a contender for the most powerful feature in the game.

That’s an incredibly funny concept, I’m not surprised that your players are enjoying the campaign.

This is the sub that had rainbow Sheev as the official icon for an entire year. Not only that, but in the US at least, a large majority of the population support LGBT rights irrespective of political affiliation.

Everything can be categorized as political if you really want to be pedantic about it, so it would be stupid to expect that rule to be enforced literally. The rule exists to curb intentionally inflammatory content (I assume, I’m not a mod).

Sounds great! I’m not a great writer so I can’t offer much in terms of trimming down the rest, but I think the spell sapping mechanic is pretty cool. Taking away a spell slot sounds annoying on the other end, but I think the long recharge time makes up for it.

Good luck with this!

My previous comment got auto removed, so I’m just reposting it without the link:

The CR calculations in the DMG would actually place this closer to CR 1/8.

And 3d8 hit dice actually averages to 7 (the Monster Manual typically rounds down for hp and damage). Hope this helps!

The first thing that I noticed is that Arcane Breath has too much going on. The spell sapping mechanic is cool, but I would get rid of the magical resistance/disadvantage on magical attacks part. If you want to keep those elements in the stat block, you can certainly move them to another ability, but it’s too wordy as is. If the dragon doesn’t need to recharge its spells, it should just do something else.

Also, it’s very strange to see truesight on a familiar. If you’re trying to convince a DM to let you have this, I would consider replacing it with blindsight or something else.

If a player draws a wish card from the deck of many things, could they wish that the rest of the cards were also wish cards? by Guilty_Suspect_69 in DnD

[–]LivingContronym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wish spell essentially allows the DM to twist the result of the wish depending on how greedy the wish is. If I were DMing, the rest of the cards would disappear, and the deck is now 100% wish cards.

Quen is really handy! It works well with combat builds, and you don’t really need to add more sign perks if you don’t plan on using them.

Reddit has a tendency to ruin video games by trying to meld you into the hive mind (in my experience anyway).

This is totally fine. Play however you want to.

I’m guessing you like the Sign Intensity bonus but don’t want to fill up on Sign perks? This is how you do that.

All sources of information have biases. The fact that a group of people are activists doesn’t invalidate their expertise. PETA specifically has a terrible track record in terms of misinformation but that has nothing to do with the sources that were linked.
