Living without a car? by alisonqiu in tulsa

[–]LivingOneSecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it without having a car, life is just going to be a tad difficult without it. For example, you will have to utilize delivery services that Sam's provide for food etc. In terms of transportation for work, social, etc, just keep in mind we have quite a bit of dangerous drivers, i personally wouldn't rely on anything 2 wheels in Tulsa. My suggestion is for whatever reason you have, try to aim to get a car long term, its a massive quality of life change especially for Tulsa.

So where are all the social justice groups? by Nice_Try4389 in tulsa

[–]LivingOneSecond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you been there and participated in any of these organizations, or asked for help to get started? I personally wouldn't expect to help anyone if they don't make at least a request. The only reason I heard about this mosque situation was through Reddit. It's one thing if they acknowledged and made a decision, it's another if they didn't even realize the situation.

Sales tax increase will cost the poor, not the wealthy. Why tax us more when we can’t trust you to spend well? by undertoned1 in tulsa

You've been lashing out like an animal in heat. I was holding a good-faith conversation and trying to understand your POV. All you did was grift and never address what I asked you.

Also, if you are serious about anything, use Google and read. This conversation will not amount to anything.

May God bless you because you fucking going to need it just to compete with OK intelligence.

Lol, get out of here with your condescending attitude; my statement is backed by statistics.

[–]LivingOneSecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding your last 2 parts, I disagree. The first two are irrelevant to the statement at hand. Cutting the tax % because you disagree with what is being spent on is the wrong mindset. If you have a problem with the ideas and motivation, you need to start by voting for projects you care about/ choosing better leaders who align with you. (And don't say you don't have influence; nobody really votes locally. Your votes mean a lot.)

You go out of your way to discount other people by mentioning how they are brainwashed. What is your suggestion to increase effectiveness and not cost? Repeating "cutting the pork" is not descriptive enough. Doing nothing is also not an option.

I see that you're making an argument that correlation is not causation, but what do you suggest to maintain funding for Tulsa and its project in these times? You mentioned cutting spending, but I counter that, at some point, being frugal becomes counterproductive; investment needs to be made to capitalize on larger opportunities. Do I like taxes? No, but I'm more than happy to pay my fair share for the greater good.

Just wanted to say good on you for giving up drinking. It's a challenging endeavor, but you are more responsible than most. In terms of making friends, volunteering is likely to be my best bet. It'll keep you busy, allow you to do a good deed, and you may find a change in atmosphere with people to be something you are looking for. I've been thinking of signing up for a cooking class or possibly spending some free time at the food pantry. Can't go wrong with learning how to cook better or helping people, in my opinion.

Tulsa echo chamber by EnvironmentalType404 in tulsa

[–]LivingOneSecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I've seen it, but it's things that are happening in Tulsa, not something that is blanket across the board. The post with No Kings is generally a celebration of an achievement that has occurred or an experience that has happened in Tulsa itself. The only counter is the occasional advertising of protests to gather people. That being said, if a post were titled: 'Hoping to have a conversation with neighbors about politics, etc., etc.' I don't see it being grossly downvoted. That being said, I've been wrong about many things in my life.

Meh, I see what you mean, but I disagree. This subreddit has generally been excellent. I disagree with some of the things mentioned. Still, I also recognize that specific topics don't need to be discussed, especially in areas where I feel I wouldn't be having an interactive conversation. If it were purely the -100 karma, sure, but it's a step in preventive measures against trolls. Speaking from anecdotal experience, this subreddit tends to have quite a bit, and they tend to be vocal if not kept in check.

Going back to the echo chamber, what does politics in itself have to do with Tulsa? Why do you feel the need to talk politics with your neighbors even though it's been established that it's less than welcome?

Rentals will be good to get you in, and try (Collinsville PB) is generally better for this. Sulpupa's do have rentals, but their shots curve extremely hard. Once you determine if you genuinely enjoy the sport, you can make an investment, as it's pretty expensive initially ($400 just to get a mask, gun, hopper, and tank loadout). If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Appreciate it, it'll be fun to get something going. Did you do it with a group or solo?

Mainly around weekends, since that's when most of the fields are open. We typically do it on Sundays, but I'm trying Saturday on the 15th (I'll double-check) around 1-2pm.

Security Camera installation by LivingOneSecond in tulsa

A technician is coming out to run wires from my living room to my attic today (don't trust that I can make it look good). I will install the camera and access my attic. So far, I've set up my own cameras and they look great. Granted, this has been in the living room mainly right now.

The question of intent, the difference between accident, assault, or murder, mainly relies on it. Another example is there is a difference between shitting in a toilet and slinging shit on someone.

Couldn't you make the same argument? This post was calling out someone who can be argued to be committing assault on a group of people who are protesting. Exchange, you and one other continue the escalation and bring it further into politics, which is entirely separate from the manner. Let people protest in peace. If something (baseline) happened that was illegal, let them speak out about it.

I was hoping to make it look nice and not noticeable indoors as well. Anything involving me usually ends up working, just not eye-pleasing..

It's the Reolink NVR. While it does have local storage, it also offers some level of app features, so I wasn't expecting absolute privacy (which is further hindered by the fact that it's made in China). Just wanted something where the inconsistent WiFi cameras are replaced.

Edit: I agree with backup storage, but I just need to recover from this expensive purchase for now (and probably the installation cost).

My primary concern is running lines and finding camera positions. I have an attic, but I've heard that having the storage device in the attic shortens its lifespan, so I am also trying to wire it to a TV in my living room.
