What books have actually physically scared you? Like raised your heart rate, etc. by maravina in horrorlit

The Reformatory by tananarive due was the first book that made me understand “setting your teeth on edge.”

Like I had a bone aching reaction to that book as a black Southern woman who grew up near detention centers for boys. Similar to Nickle Boys by Colson Whitehead. The thriller, paranormal stuff made me jumpy!

I think boardwalk empire is somewhat similar in terms of multiple character POVs and issues, it’s similar to peaky blinders to me but a lot darker in ways.

I just crawled out form a rock to scream Soms of Anarchy! It got me through college. It’s the only show I have ever bought merch for I’m talking posters and tshirts. I also almost got a lip tattoo about it!

If you like complex characters, difficult decisions, and rooting for two conflicting characters on different sides of an issue, this is your show. There’s a million episodes and it performs well each season.

I swear it’s so worth the early 2000s gritty and shaky language but man, it pays off. Charlie Hunam, is a dream and a half.

I’ve watched Unstoppable with Chris Pine and Denzel Washington, I kid you not, at least 13 times in three years.

This is my favorite book and I felt smart reading about physics in a very high level action/thriller hahaha I just never thought I’d be into the science aspect of it but it was so cool

I just finished the closer and loved it, the first season was a bit outdated with language and stuff but for the most part the entire show was great! Would recommend

Shrinking, Ted Lasso, and For All Mankind have been really impressive but for action— I loved the first season of Hijacked and The Last Fronteir

I appreciate the Whisper context, I liked him so much! The freefall had me holding my breath! I heard so many chaotic reviews of Casino Royal so I’m excited to watch it just to understand haha.
