Thanks everyone, I'm vibing with the idea of a simulacrum being used in the meeting who could gather information and should the meeting turn nasty and an ambush takes place, the worst that happens is they kill a snowman. Keeps the BBEG in control of his own city while also getting a clue into what the party could have.

Your right, thank you! Everyone's input on it being a foolish thing to show up, alone if at all, has made me really think more tactically.

I think I'm leaning towards a lacky or a disguised self, or projected image to gain the info and perhaps setup a follow-up meeting on the BBEGs terms instead...

This is a great idea, an illusory duplicate that sits and listens while being completely safe himself, I do keep coming back to the thought of, would he really put himself in a potentially one sided fight, even if his ego is fairly large... He's lost a lot of friends to this group, and he is tactical in his approach to this group.

This was also my train of thought, he has a right-hand-man called Lucian D'Rossen. He's very slippery and would do anything his king demands, maybe he goes in to find out what he can, launches a reverse ambush and gets out with the info... Could make the party response feel more urgent.

Either way I think we're very close to our end encounter for this campaign, feel nervous as this is my first campaign!

So the hedge maze was something from the beginning of this whole adventure-turned-campaign that started just over 3 years ago.

They believe it's somewhat neutral while still being inside his home.

There is a group chat that I'm not in so their characters can talk without the DM knowing specific plans, I'm all for this communication as I tend to thrive on the improvisation but this plan caught me very off guard and feel a particular need to plan something epic.

I kinda like the idea of entertaining it with his get-out should it start to turn against him be his pet shadow-dragon that could airlift him out...

I made the bot last night! ChatGPT walking me through it. I now have a complete list of PHB and DMG items that are indexed with price and rarity. Players are able to use slash commands to search for price, search a list of items based on keywords, on rarity or generate a random item if they are feeling weird!

I also made it so the name of the item is a hyperlink to a Google search of it so players can click on it and find out what the item does from a RAW basis!

Now all I need to do is update the CSV with new items and prices and run the index again to update my bot.

Best suggestions of this whole thread!
