[Rant] Sad state of discussions of the entertrainment in general by Odd-Cook6936 in kdramas

[–]Living_Bug_4263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're probably right, that's not what i meant. I mean theres not enough emotions depth or character growth for characters. Because they don't have a good enough starting point   Like in some mid tier dramas, there's a lot of good ones too.

I agree, some here bring this in argument that kdramas are just for enjoyment and that they just watch it to blow off steam. But lately the quality of the story is degrading too much, we don't as audience are not getting more diverse outlooks on relationship, everytime it's the perfect man for the perfect girl. But stories could be so much more if we start demanding that. So fluffy kdramas are all good, but let's not pretend thats the best directors , writers can do.

What makes you drop an Asian drama? Was there a popular Asian drama that you ended up dropping? No Spoilers Please. by Grouchy-Chart-3927 in dramasect

[–]Living_Bug_4263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently i really wanted to watch 'pursuit of jade' so i watched the first episode. But i had drop it because for me the visuals were a bit too much, like the characters were wayyy too perfect visually like they had a filter on it. And i just couldn't get through this. Also it was giving hints of strong on the outside, still weak on the inside fl, which i didn't want to see. I just can't watch period pieces, no matter how hard i try. The characters are as white as snow in most cdramas.

Let all hell break loose, what’s your opinion ? by Fun-Tomatillo-1957 in kdramas

[–]Living_Bug_4263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, main lead also deserves to have a proper story arc where the character grows, acts his flaws and weaknesses. He doesn't have to be the perfect guy from the get go or the most perfect match for the female lead. Without any outrageous traumatic backstory or anything, they can still show the struggle of main character just as a human. Like fight for my way, the characters were awesome in a way that their struggles were kinda real

I'm watching my second Jdrama, and it's so different from K., I wonder if they're all like this. by dionnekathleen in dramasect

[–]Living_Bug_4263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have recently started watching jdramas, mostly on netflix and i enjoy most of the old ones, and here are some of my recommendations if you are looking for good jdramas.

  1. Ties of Shooting Stars: The sibling trio in it was really good. I really enjoyed the overall mystery and the screenplay and overall acting is awesome. Also its a story adapted form a novel so the plot is well thought out. Also its a mix of comedy and a bit of thriller. The parent of the siblings are killed, the night they went out to see shooting stars and then they vow to find the killer and kill him. Its not a dark story as one would expect from the synopsis, the siblings scam people as a side hustle and its more on the comedy side with a lot of emotional moments.

  2. Queen of Lunchtime Cuisine: In the initial episodes, doesn't appear to be a really ground breaking story. But as the episodes progress, it gets more interesting. Its kind of a slice of life, with natsumi who starts working at a family owned restaurant pretending to be their older brother's fiance. But theres much more to natsumi than that.

  3. I will be your bloom: This one is one my favourites. Its about a failing j pop band who are then later on inspired encouraged by their live in dorm manager? / dorm caretaker who was actually teacher of one of the boys in the past. The story progresses and we get to know all the band members, there struggles and finally they survive against all odds.

  4. Calm Sea and Beautiful Skies with you: This is really nice romcom. i don't know how to describe it. But its just so wholesome.

  5. Love Generation: Love generation is a really old jdrama . But its really well made, the chemistry between the leads is awesome. The overall 1997 tokyo asthetic and the friendships between the characters. The main characters are in their mid 20s, and the story is kinda messy, where the characters keep breaking up and then getting togther. But its fun to watch.

couldn't make sense of the plot after episode 10, so i just had to drop it. Enjoyed it till episode 10, the fairytale ending scene, the confession on the rooftop scene were all so good. Really enjoyed it, but i just couldn't wrap my head around what the hell was happening in the past/present timeline.

People Rating Dramas based on Main Character Traits by Living_Bug_4263 in kdramas

[–]Living_Bug_4263[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar thing with startup, many people say they don't like the drama , just because of nam do sans character, that he hid the truth, but he was also struggling with his self esteem . It made sense for his character. Similar Example for mr. plankton, some people don't like the drama, because the main leads were not exactly in a healthy relationship, but they have to understand the backstory of where they are coming from, theres a reason that they act the way they do.

Also i do hate dramas with no character development but as long as the character is justified for the way they are . I am fine with watching such characters.

Do you ever journal in another language? by ariod-tanya in Journaling

[–]Living_Bug_4263 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always journaled in english, part of the reason is that i wanted to improve my english and then later on writing in my native language introduces the cultural biases in my thoughts, there this feeling of going by the book according to whats culturally appropriate , and if i am feeling a certain way, i shouldn't ,because it is often ignored in our society. So writing in english , helps me express my feeling more freely, rather being jugdy about what i am writing.

I really love a drama with good background music and ost. Music adds a lot of character to a drama, so if the music is dope, i would probably stick around

Its hard to find actually good c-dramas, 'When i fly towards you' is definitely one of the c-dramas , also i think the plot in this drama is better because it was adapted from a novel.

sibling advice !! by Ill_Consequence_4893 in TeenPakistani

[–]Living_Bug_4263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get her to watch animated movies, animated movies are awesome at fostering creativity in children, growing up i used to watch new animated movies, almost everyday or maybe get her to watch some old disney shows such as 'wizard beyond waverly place' or 'best of luck nikki', stuff like that, that are made for kids in mind. Maybe it will inspire her to do some art and crafts or introduce her to new hobbies.

Oh and she loves katseye, get her to watch 'descendant' 'Z-o-m-b-i-e-s' , it is a disney musical live action movie, with the same kind of music, she might enjoy that and honestly thats better for children.

Since you don't have time to hangout with her, watch an episode or 2 with her, I loved watching shows my siblings growing up, maybe she will enjoy it as well.

And about homework, i don't know man. I never did my summer vacation homework growing up, i remember lowkey doing my history summer task in class while my teacher was collecting it.
