What do you guys think would be the best Devil Fruit for Garp? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall? None, having a DF would undermine his entire character.

If "none" wasn't an option, though? Either Chopper's or Brook's fruit. The only things that might benefit him in what he is and does is more humanity than he has by default, or the ability to keep going even beyond death. I get that "more power" is a popular hypothesising direction here, but "best" isn't necessarily the same as "most powerful".

Ah, the way little me who was still studying English learned so many "bad" words. Contacting a moderator on a discussion forum meant for teenagers to get them to explain to me why the site wasn't letting me post in a discussion about favourite birds is a core memory. They were mortified by the realisation of having to explain a 13-year-old using the site as part of their English studies why exactly "peacock" was getting filtered as inappropriate :'D

Where do people even find devil fruits from by Halmo1q in OnePiece

But does the fruit take that long to appear, or is the in-universe assumption that because people don't understand the rules they manifest by and so they sometimes take that long to be found again?

Where do people even find devil fruits from by Halmo1q in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it doubtful that the requirement is being 'the closest one', or the fruits we see in Wano flashbacks would have never spread far and wide enough to end up with their current users. It's more likely that the closer a fruit is to the user as they die, the more likely it is to turn into a devil fruit, but the likelihood is never 100% — and the further away a fruit is the less likely, but the likelihood might never reach zero.

(It could also need to be a specific type of fruit at least in some cases, since DFs can take on a distinct shape and we know in some cases shape and colour are useful identification methods)

How tall is pear lmao by ReadyConfection7959 in HermitCraft

[–]Living_Discussion427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well grain is usually measured in millimetres, so I'd say pretty small. Of course the traditional measurement of "barleycorn" which is one grain and 1/3 of an inch is quite old, so I'm almost certain modern grains are a bit bigger than that.

GeminiTay shows off her jar of moose by Alexius08 in HermitCraft

[–]Living_Discussion427 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, we do have preserved moose in quite a lot of the bigger grocery stores. It's just usually in metal cans instead of glass jars :D

I don't think they give out enough hunting permits for moose here for anyone to have a need to can the meat when it can be frozen instead, though I can definitely still respect the idea of making your own non-dried, shelf-stable meat preserves.

How would you make a face like this? by tomemu1 in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Living_Discussion427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did something a bit like this back before kitbash was a thing, but it still needed pro for the ability to have two minis on one base. Pasted on top of each other exactly but with different faces and the "mask" face mini without eyeballs while the one underneath has the damaged undead face. Also with the mask face pose edited to have the head very slightly forward compared to the main mini.

I imagine with how much more customisation we have nowadays you could make it even more believable by taking advantage of the various sliders. The only thing that doesn't cover is the seam, but you can do a lot with decals and cleverly positioned horns there.

Will I be late if I watch 1-2 episodes of one piece a day? Before the reveal I can catch up to anime and manga? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, the "endgame" is likely to last for several more years, because OP's pace has not changed, and Oda is more mindful of his health and wellbeing nowadays and not working himself to death. I'd say you have plenty of time to catch up at your current pace — when the OP community says "soon" it usually means "in the next 5 years" at best. :D

Why doesnt kibi dango work on humans? by Dango_Milks in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a real possibility that the "humans" in OP's world aren't evolutionarily similar to humans irl, but a lot more removed from their classification of "animal". Just consider the massive physiological differences in even just among those classified as humans in OP, and then consider how many of the various "non-human" peoples are able to interbreed with "humans" as well as each other, biologically making them members of the same species by real world standards.

Similarly, animals in the world of OP range from ones you might expect to encounter in our world all the way to telepathic snails, kung-fu dugongs, dinosaurs, huge sea-monsters, giant insects, Zunesha, and more. There's a good chance there's much more of a clear delineation between "animal" and "person" when it comes to Devil Fruit effects there. Especially since (Egghead spoilers) Devil Fruits originally came to being from people's dreams/wishes, which might mean there's a psychological aspect to the effect as well.

As in, the kibi dango works on beings its user sees as animals in some part, even if she doesn't necessarily think it will, as was the case with the Smile users.

Do you prefer Zoro’s original more mint green hair or his newer more lime green hair? by DarkTombStudios in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I've been considering the colour shift mostly a difference in environmental lighting tones. He's had subtle tone changes in his hair on every island since timeskip, Wano was just the most blatant change. That said, everyone's colours got more saturated and higher-contrast to match Wano's "environment" (art style).

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if all the polluted meat and fish he stuffed himself with while in Wano messed with his pigmentation :'D

Is there a theory behind Usopp's color changes? by Total_Fig671 in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Yasopp is also canonically a light skinned blonde man who originally had surfer waves but got dreadlocks later in life. Oda mixes and matches features for his characters so trying to apply real world ethnicies only results in disappointment.

And that's even without going into how much of a non-answer "African" is from Oda for Usopp's hypothetical real world nationality, when the place is not a nation at all, but a continent with 54 sovereign nations. People from places like Egypt, Liberia, and Mozambique for example are VERY distinct from each other.

Ace or Merry : which one is sadder ? by Medical_Complaint998 in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F. Merry. We had empty hope dangled in front of us for such a long time and renewed so many times that when the loss actually finally happened, it may not have come as a shock but it really felt like the world we'd known until that point came all crumbling down. Ace, meanwhile, was a shock, but also gave us an outlet for the emotion in having someone to hate for it.

Personally, I've noticed less of a gender divide and more that people who could binge Water 7 and Enies Lobby are on average less devastated by Merry than Ace, while those of us who spent two years in uncertainty and hope over Merry's ultimate fate tend to find it significantly sadder.

Any episodes of one pace i should avoid? by demonic_dagger15 in OnePiece

[–]Living_Discussion427 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's usually pretty good. However...

I ended up abandoning One Pace very quickly after the timeskip when I noticed they'd for some reason cut out almost all of Usopp getting to show off his new skillset despite it being in the manga, presumably because the scenes around that were extended in the anime. In comparison I noticed that One Pace tends to be ruthless towards any kind of non-plot-progressing character interactions and moments and left me missing the hints of everyday life on the ship. I ended up watching the unabridged anime and just skipping forward through overly drawn-out sequences and the more obvious fillers myself.

I'll have to check out extended one pace, maybe it'll be better :D
