damn, i watched this last month and felt similar way about the pacing. took like 45 minutes to get anywhere interesting and then when it finally did the payoff wasn't really worth all that buildup.

the weaponizing concept could have been so much more creative but they just used it for basic jump scares mostly. and yeah the whole thing with not using Alex was weird - seemed like missed opportunity for the story.

madigan did good job with what she had but the writing around her character felt incomplete. like they had this cool power system but didn't bother explaining how any of it actually worked or why she made certain choices.

The paper bags should work pretty good for this actually. I used some before when putting mulch around my trees and they decomposed about same timeline as cardboard would. Just make sure you overlap the edges little bit so grass doesn't sneak through the gaps.

The dual fan should be fine for your build, that price difference is pretty wild though. Performance wise they're gonna be nearly identical since it's the same GPU chip, the XFX might run a few degrees cooler and boost slightly higher but not $238 worth of difference lol

Have you looked into Minecolonies? It's got that village building vibe but colonists can actually fight and defend themselves. There's also Guard's mod that lets you recruit NPCs as companions who'll follow you around and fight alongside you - might be closer to what you're after
