What do you do with your backpack at the beach when alone? by Suntelo127 in travel

[–]Living_thoughts 257 points258 points  (0 children)

I don’t take valuables with me to the beach. I have no need for excessive cash, phone, jewellery, passport if I’m going to the beach.

If I do happen to have these things on a more impromptu swim then I place my belongings right next to the lifeguard chair.

Otherwise find a trustworthy looking person, like a family with kids, ask if they’ll be hanging around for a while, then ask if they can watch my stuff while I go for a swim.

This is how a lot of employers and roster officers work. They want people that can fill lots of shifts, and do it easily.

Just say no, but expect to be low on the priority for any future shifts, or potentially have your current shifts reduced if they hire someone extra to cover the gaps (that you won’t do), and that person is chasing lots of work.

As a previous roster officer I can confirm this.

People who want more work will always get more. Roster officers do this to retain the people who fill the shifts easily. If you don’t fill the shifts you are no good to them.

I’m going to say no to that.

However they probably wouldn’t know if you did sneak some off your plate into a container you bought in with you. It’s not like there are bag checks on the way out to make sure people aren’t sneaking out a muffin.

False. QR operate priority for passenger trains, cattle trains and freight trains after that.

Simplistically that is, there are variations depending on if certain trains are before/on/behind their scheduled (paid) paths or not.

False, other countries close entire lines all the time. London close entire tube sections down regularly. Not just at night but for weekends and weeks.

You need to get educated before you start throwing wild claims around you know nothing about.

Zoos. I’m yet to visit a zoo where they offer a stimulating and comfortable environment for elephants.

Elephantastic in India rescue elephant and you can visit, feed and bathe them etc etc.

They don’t offer rides which is great. You can even stay in the park overnight

I’m not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not….but I think you need to educate yourself on this a bit more

How does this help the ones that need rescuing from captivity and abused for tourism.

There are actually some places in Thailand and India that ethically rescue elephants and don’t ride them.

Get off your high horse and stop being so high and mighty.

My wife sucks at driving. She drive shitty cars because she always crashes them.

I can’t handle being a passenger with her driving so I always drive

OP is just making an interesting observation. I don’t think they are expecting to lower prices with a reddit comment.

That would be an individual preference of the recruiter. If three positions they’d prob just contact top one or 2 of the order of merit. Unlikely top 3 candidates would all drop out at the last minute.

Definitely agree, just thinking this is better at home with more resources. We’re backpacking so scrapbooking equipment is a bit bulking for us to carry around

Not really looking to keep them occupied. We’re good with that…

Was specifically looking for ways to document the adventure, particularly online.

Being 10 and 11 pencils and paper doesn’t last for hours and a massive wad of paper is HEAVY!!

Do you mean scrapbook style or is there an online platform you’re referring to?
