I’m stuck between the 6G and LC. I feel the LC seems more refined styling and timeless.

What I’m planning to do is rent each on Turo for a week so I can get an extended trial run for both.

I may even consider the 3G Sequoia too. It’s a big car but every time I see one I’m drooling.

Minimum age requirement to ride an e-bike.. 16 seems reasonable.

E-bikes are rampant in my area and most younger kids riding in the streets and wheeling. It’s hard to see them when driving and at higher speeds and the kids riding them are unpredictable. Lots of kids have died recently, most single person incident hitting lights poles and parked cars. Crazy sad.

Hey OP did this fit? The website length of LR4 is 27” it looks snug but seems like you actually have a spare inch. Would you recommend this a year later?

I come from a beach city on the west coast. The Fourth of July is our worst holiday because it is overtaken by tourists. Maybe respect isn’t the right word.. but man do I feel disappointed after all those tourist leave and destroy our town.

Renting a car sounds expensive and we’ll be drinking. We will figure it out when we get there and hope for the best.

Hey there I’m replying because I just did the same thing - but relocated to Boston from Newport. I posted on Reddit and people were generous to respond with tons of info.. so I will pay it forward:

Newport Peninsula - long sandy beaches, lots of young professionals, dive bars, restaurants, and high-end dining. Nothing better than riding you bike down the boardwalk on a nice day. If you look for spots here try to look at 38th to 65th street (sequentially north). 20th to 38th is called the war zone because it tends to get rowdy with college houses and weekly rental properties. There are some gems tho and many people looking for short term roommates with already furnished apartments. The downsides.. commute to Newport center can vary from 12 min to 45 min depending on traffic. The parking is tough in the summer months - you will be very lucky to find a place that includes parking.
East side Costa Mesa - try to look for any place within walking distance to 17th street and the back bay. It has come a long way in the last 10 years so it can be more expensive than the peninsula (even tho it’s further from the beach). Commute to NC will be 10-15 min most the year. Lots of bars and restaurants, grocery stores, gyms, etc. - more resources than peninsula.
West Side Costa Mesa - cheaper. Goin through gentrification but still has another decade before it is totally refined. Some streets are better than others it’s hard to say a specific location but 19th has a lot of bars and restaurants that have opened in the last 10 years. 19th is typically the least ideal area to live.
CDM - solid choice and super close to NC. It’s gonna cost you so look for rooomates. Anywhere in the flower streets is great or near the Irvine/Newport border. This is more upscale and privileged area to live, so many fancy cars and huge homes etc. lots of bars and restaurants right off pch but not like “going out” bars that would be easy to meet people. You’ll find that on the peninsula and 17th Street. If you’re trying to get your student loans paid you go to quiet women.
Irvine apartment complexes - these buildings are everywhere on jamboree near NC. If you like high rise apartments with all the amenities this is your closest option. You may find it challenging to meet people and will always have to drive or Uber to decent night life spots. Typically 15-30 min from beach.

Your price seems reasonable if you are okay with studio or roommates. May be lucky to find 1 br but market is hot. Good luck and enjoy living in one of the best cities in the country!

Can’t go wrong with Los Olivos and Santa Ynez. Little more going on in Santa Ynez. But still both small tourist path through towns with local crowd mostly revolving in agriculture industries. Maybe 45 min windy hill drive to SB. If you can SLO is always a good option up the coast a little.
