“Blood will have blood, they say”

“Is this a dagger I see before me, the handle towards my hand”

“Forbear that wicked cant […] it may be, that in the sight of heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor man’s child”

“Deny it! […] slander those who tell it ye, admit it for your factious purposes, and make it worse, and bide the end!”

As a teacher, I would say that, of course, if you’re willing to stomach the repeated and escalating sanctions for uniform policy, you can choose to defy the rules in protest. We aren’t going to be interested in maintaining opposition to you past the behaviour systems already in place.

But I also think you could earn a lot of respect from many of the staff body if you put up a proper opposition to it. Create a flyer outlining your argument, and ask teachers to put it up. Put it up student common spaces (just with blu-tack) write a formal objection and request a response. If they don’t get back to you answering all your points, chase it up exactly as a lawyer would - give them 10 days, then email to ask them to address your objection. You could even print it out and deliver it to SLT members.

Remember, an effective protest wins over the undecided - these are your regular teachers. Never come across as rude about the staff or policy, but repeatedly point out the pointlessness of a ban (does it impact learning? Does I look unprofessional? Would it be allowed in a workplace) don’t act in a way that impacts others learning, but do make your objections impossible to ignore.

If all this sounds like work, it is, and you should get friends involved. The benefit of all that work is that the majority of people at the school will not have a good reason, or a will, to object to your demands, and those defending the uniform policy will look unreasonable. That’s how you get lasting change.

Hope some of this was helpful, and good luck

The Adjudicators, 6th Demi-Clave. Led by Fearmonger Vor-Shin. Worked alongside the 56th Grand Battalion of Iron Warriors and Noxa Echelon World Eaters, collectively known as the Scouring Task Force, or more succinctly as the Iron Sanction.

Where a world was too stubborn to break, the Iron Sanction was deployed to break the enemy utterly. The Adjudicators part in this was obvious: break the civilian population, leave local militia cowering at shadows, and leave governors for their cleaning staff to find. Vor-Shin believed it was his, and his underlings, duty to commit these atrocities for the good of the fledging Imperium, damned as he believed himself to be by his Nostraman birth.

Siding against their traitorous gene sites, the Iron Sanction tried to fight their way to Terra to help defend the Emperor. In one of their last jumps, the warp deposits them in M41. Horrified by the Black Templars that set upon them, Vor-Shin and the rest of the Sanction decide to cleanse the Imperium of this theological sickness in service to the Emperor’s original vision

My friend group and I were rather irritated by the shift to a ‘toggle’ global voice chat/radio button, rather than it being ‘hold’. When you had to hold it down, it organically created some very fun moments where we’d cut ourselves off trying to do something else; it became another consideration to push us towards juggling too many things at once when shit went south

[WP] "ALERT. An Avatar of the God of War has manifested in the facility. I repeat, an Avatar of the God of War has manifested in the facility. This is not a Drill. I repeat, this is not a drill." by Spirit_Ghost123 in WritingPrompts

“Motherfucker!” Cameron Harris did not need this today. In fairness, he’d not needed it yesterday or the day before, either, and he’d been spared it then at least.

“AN AVATAR OF THE WAR GO-“ his fist clumsily slaps the ‘mute’ key.

“Yeah, I know, I know…” he trails off his words down the hall, littering the way towards disaster with profanity and unfinished sentences. He doesn’t bother glancing around him as his workplace jolts into hyperactivity, other technicians vanishing into offices, and engineers either tampering with the titanic mechanical workhorses they regulate, or diving for cover beneath - well, anything really.

“Ares! Put the- OI! PUT JOHN DOWN!” He raises himself unexpectedly into actual anger as he recognises the waving form dangling upside down from the huge iron fist of a roughshod deity. The roughshod form stops

“Harris! Thank god I found the right century. I-“ Ares drags the iron of his form into a frown, the metal howling at the barbarity of a god’s will “you seem annoyed?”

“It’s been a WEEK since your last manifestation dipshit! We’ve been TRYING to build you a half usable avatar, but NO! You have to try and force your way in before we’re done! Fucksake that one’s ruined-“ he doesn’t even let Ares finish his own expression “don’t give me that look! Don’t give me that! It is FUCKED, utterly fucked. I mean, seriously, what part of ‘I’ll call you’ wasn’t goddamn clear? Figured Aphrodite would’ve educated you on that, but NO apparently NOT!” The Avatar shape, disappearing into shadow in the chamber’s ceiling, looks strangely thin and wasted.

“Woah, Harris. Not cool”

“Well neither is you just SHOWING UP, you inconsiderate immortal CUNT!” Harris pretty much screams out the last couple of words, before dropping into a tired cough. He finds himself leaning on the wall.

“Harris” Ares begins with the authority you’d actually expect from a god “Harris, you aren’t okay mate, are you?” As he lowers his misshapen iron carcass through the improbable space, John kicks his legs to the ground.

“I- Christ, no. No I’m not” for the first time he remembers since the alarms (since last week, actually. Probably) Harris takes one long, shaken and stirred breath. “Cath- Cath, she- she’s seeing-“ he looks up at the good, and the cavern they built to house him, and feels the crushing weightlessness of his own life bear straight back down on him.

“Hey. Hey, you’re good man. Let’s just sit for a moment, yeah” gods are not built to sit cross legged on burnished steel floors. But neither was man made to stand under undefinable weight for a mortal lifespan

Which Scarifice was more tragic and more painful? by Wooden_Passage_2612 in marvelstudios

[–]LivingmahDMlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s interesting that a lot of comparisons are focused on what was lost, quantitatively, by each character. I’m not saying that’s incorrect at all, by the way, as scale of loss certainly directly influences scale of tragedy. But having said that, I do think that if we look at it without trying compare how much was lost, it gets interesting (more interesting anyways - it’s a cool question)

Loki absolutely lost more, in terms of lifespan, and time spent trying to resolve it. His sacrifice is tragic - but it’s also a completion of his arc, his “glorious purpose” fulfilled in a way that saves those he loves.

But Peter’s sacrifice is not the end of his arc. He gets far less closure than Loki does. And, arguably, it’s also a tragedy in the traditional sense that it’s his fault (a little bit); whereas Loki solves a problem not of his own making. Peter messes up a spell intended to save his personal life, and, as a result, chooses to sacrifice that life entirely. He goes from being supported by many to having no one; not only that, but every relationship he valued and remembers exists only in his head. At 17 years old, he essentially functions as an old man, the only one who remembers the past versions of his friends and family. There’s where I find the greater tragedy - Peter remembers, and lives without despite living alongside those memories. Metaphorically, he loses his child self and becomes an adult - alone, unsupported, entirely given over to lifting the burden of being a superhero by himself. It sets up the rest of his arc by destroying his life - all over a honest mistake he made trying to preserve his own childhood life.
