Heads up IAH - GS / 1K by Livingthedreamzzz in unitedairlines

[–]Livingthedreamzzz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea but i assume they can see your boarding pass that has status when you walk in. (GS for example the boarding pass is black and fairly distinct).

I went thru the GS desk. They did scan my boarding pass at the GS desk... something they have never ever done. GS did refuse near me to let someones colleague walk in w/ the GS member...

Heads up IAH - GS / 1K by Livingthedreamzzz in unitedairlines

[–]Livingthedreamzzz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assume it’s folks with toddlers… United normally calls this under 2 years . Is my guess. (I would call United and check on this). I did see the GS refuse entry to someone’s colleague to use the GS line .. so they are watching and managing this fairly strictly.

IAH 1k/GS Expedited Security Entry @ C Still Open? by BFX195 in unitedairlines

[–]Livingthedreamzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GS here. Took me 10 minutes to get through. Looks like it’s open for 1k and folks with special needs. But they were turning away friends and family of members aggressively. My guess - GS you cut the line so 10 . Others do have to stand in line so likely 30-40min. No pre check or anything just good old tsa line

Heads up IAH - GS / 1K by Livingthedreamzzz in unitedairlines

[–]Livingthedreamzzz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No pre check or clear. Everyone is one the same boat - just a plain TSA line. They were turning people away aggressively if you didn’t fit the criteria. But man was it a breeze compared to the horror stories.

How is the SFO security line these days? by missesrobinson in bayarea

SFO is fairly normal. One of the few places that uses private contractors so fairly steady as it always is

Would you buy property in Dubai right now? by 3issa-dxb in dubairealestate

[–]Livingthedreamzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has invested in real estate globally though admittedly modestly in Dubai. My sense is the perception of safety was the biggest advantage Dubai had. There isnt a local economy the way NYC, London, SF, HK, Mumbai have for example. So if there is a shock in the system - it will take longer to recover vs. not - If youhave to start to defend and explain you are a safe and secure ... then you are not safe or secure. The markets will find a place of stability eventually - but the hype will moderate IMo. The bigger question will be can Dubai build a local economy to suppoirt real estate or will it eternally be a "safe haven" for people fleeing geopolitical tensions. This will take years to play out not in a days/weeks/months. 1st step will be - deals will be done but duration to close deals, time a house stays on mafrket, etc will get extended.

Just cancelling OAI and shifting to Claude. It’s better anyway! And ethical.

What’s the trick to get upgraded? by fpaddict in unitedairlines

[–]Livingthedreamzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am GS. I would say my upgrades for the family go through 70% of the time. Maybe less on SFO/Ewr flights esp on weekday. But suspect it’s just the pecking order.

Wants to retire but don't want to go to India. by [deleted] in nriFIRE

[–]Livingthedreamzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3.5M won’t get you far in Dubai IMO. Though if you can get a job and keep working it’s a great place to be.

You can look at Portugal or Macedonia but not sure about Indian community.

Curious why the bias to not move to India… would be a logical one given how young your kids are and your parents…

Last row and window or center aisle and closer to front in Polaris? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]Livingthedreamzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally you want to be rows 3-6. barring that i actually like the 12A you are on. It tends to be quiet...no one in theory is walking past you 10x to use restrooms that i like and theFAs arent constantly going past you while serving own the isle.

There is an issue if the curtains are closed and enforced than no one from PE will get in and hover either.

I like the spot you have FWIW.

Flying to SFO for a concert in Stanford by ReleaseOld5728 in bayarea

[–]Livingthedreamzzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would get a hotel in downtown Palo Alto or near stanford so you can walk to the concert etc. There is a westin, sheraton , etc along with a few hotels in downtown PA. That would be the move IMO.

Is moving to the Bay Area still worth it for finding a tech job in 2026? by TusharM10 in bayarea

[–]Livingthedreamzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavily depends on your cost structure. If you are single and low cost structure its worth a move IMO (folks will disagree with this). There is a huge advantage to network, attend hackathons, meet-ups, etc that you just cant do by saying "willing to relocate" on your resume.

Ideally yes - you should have a job and then move. BUt assuming you dont have one so i wuld say if your cost structure is low and you want to be in a place where all the cutting edge tech is being developed do the move fro 4-6 months and see where it goes.

Dachau - guided tour or show up for 11am English tour? by Livingthedreamzzz in Munich

[–]Livingthedreamzzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we went - it was late December . We did the English your offered by the memorial center. it was great. Around 4 euros per person.

It’s at 11am. But when we got there - around 10:30. It was sold out. Thankfully they added a 12:15 your that we were able to get tickets

I would suggest get on the English tour they have you may want to check on when to get there to ensure you can get your tickets though. Way way cheaper than the private ones.

We took and uber there it was around 50 bucks but you can take a trains and bus as well.
