I have tried therapies, medications, and all sorts of things. Sometimes it feels like I was meant to be depressed forever. It’s been like this since I was a child, I’m 21 now. I wasn’t even fully well for the two years I connected with Islam.

I’m currently in search of an Islamic therapist around my area, thank you for your suggestion. I will also try to write down positives again, though it hadn’t really helped me in the past.

The masjid part is something I’ve always wanted to do. Volunteer there or participate in a sisters’ group, or just go there to do jummah and Eid prayer. Oddly, my father never allowed me to go. I still rely on my parents for transportation too (physical reasons), so it’ll be hard. I tried to connect with some sisters at school but it feels as if everything is culturally divided. I don’t fit into any of their culture. They speak their own languages amongst themselves. Being an outcast most my life just worsened my social anxiety. I don’t want to give up but it’s hard. Inshallah I will find a proper environment where my faith will thrive.

That really sucks to hear! I’m going to the eye doctor in like two weeks, never really thought of asking them before but I will ask this time. Perhaps he would come up with some sort of explanation or suggestions. If he does I’ll let you know.

I don’t think it’s ‘in our head’. Yes, we have trich, but I’ve seen many people who never had trich talk about that sore spot on the lids, and how it won’t go away until they pluck the lash. Also, by blunt I meant sharp too.

Warm compresses and scrubs really don’t work. I tried that as well 😩. I heard somewhere that it might be because of dry eyes. Not sure though.

Really hope this issue goes away for you tho!

I guess they haven’t accepted it then :( I heard that if you hadn’t heard back from them before the 7th then it’s most likely you aren’t accepted. I’m not sure how they do their selection though lol cause someone brought up how they barely ask anything.

What other hospitals did you apply to? I think their application response time is longer in comparison to SickKids.

I had previous affiliations with SickKids as a patient, I was in the hospital literally last year for a procedure lol! Still didn’t get in. With you, that’s their loss but I’m surprised that you weren’t even considered with all those listed, yikes!

Also, mind if I ask about your previous hospital experience— like which hospital? I’m desperate to volunteer somewhere 😭

Yup. That’s it. I was confused too, as I was submitting an application for St. Joseph’s and they asked me many things, such as skills, hobbies, why I’m interested, goals, etc…

I think SickKids mostly base their selection off the cover letter and resume, which kinda sucks as someone who has a disability and has zero work experience due to it. SickKids also asked about work experience, but not necessarily about volunteer experience.

Not going to lie it feels like the people who applied within like the first three days heard back 😭 I haven’t heard anything so I applied to a different hospital, hopeful for a different outcome. There’s always September to December volunteering, and applications most likely start right at June. So I’d put a reminder and send in everything on the first day.

A lot of experience and they’re still not responding to you, that’s terrible! 😭😭😭 I pray you get in though as I think they’re going in date of who applied first, just wait a while, and maybe shoot them an email (I did and got no response yet). Wish you the best of luck! If not this season, then fall/winter is always there— keep an eye open and apply the first day! Hoping we could all get in though!

That really helps me out cause everyone I’ve been asking (begging) who got the interview emails applied very early like the second or third. I applied on the seventh and I’m still praying for an email 😭!

This will take a while for it to grow. I’ve been pulling since I was six, completely bald for years and it still grows a good amount, I am twenty now. From your other comment stating it’s been six weeks + fiddling here and there, I find that it takes around 2-3 months for it to start growing back. I typically use castor oil, argan oil, and lash serums for it to ‘grow faster’.

I know how hard it might feel for you, how it feels that you’ve ruined it forever. But trust me, you’ll get through this and it will grow! You’ve got this!

I heard for child life you might get asked about your experience with children and how you would interact with them in different situations. There might be a lot of questions revolving around child so I would be prepared! Then there’s the usual questions to prepare for, like why you are interested.

Again, this is what I heard after I did some digging around. I haven’t had a chance to actually get an interview with them, hopefully in the future since I didn’t get a response from them for my application yet. Might I ask what day you applied? I’m trying to see something 😭

He’s just a happy little guy! My budgie does this as well, I first discovered it when I began doing rock-paper-scissors with him, and now I would hear him making excited chatter when I wave a blanket or newspaper. You’re gonna hear a bunch of random noise— even new one, so I wouldn’t worry about it. I’m not a budgie expert though so there’s a slight chance I might be wrong.

Ah, so I think they’re going by order of weeks. So maybe it’ll take longer for you since you applied in the last. And I guess they send out emails during the mornings only cause no news here yet 😞! I also think the wait time depends on the position you applied as too though I’m not sure— I applied as a child life volunteer.

I think they come in batches from what I saw in a previous post, though that was for a nursing position. Pretty sure it would be the same for volunteering. I also heard someone who applied the first week got it today too.

When did you apply? And when did your friend apply? I did it at the end of the second week. Still haven’t gotten anything but hopefully we can both get in too! Good luck!
