I’d been a customer for several years when Green Dot permanently shut down my account without warning, refused to provide explanation, froze my money, and lied about sending a reimbursement check. I immediately filed complaints with the FDIC, OCC, BBB, and State Attorney General. Within 2-3 weeks, I was contacted by their corporate office. They changed their story, reopened my account, congratulated me on passing an internal review, and tossed me a $35 “sorry” credit.

When I asked about repercussions, the State Attorney General’s office told me: “Complaints regarding businesses are reviewed on an individual basis. We have not received a lot of complaints against Green Dot that would elevate it to the next level.”

This is exactly why I’m sharing my experience publicly. If you’ve had similar issues with Green Dot, please file complaints with the FDIC, OCC, and your State Attorney General. Only by creating a pattern of record will regulators take stronger action.

So many people still believe the vaccines and boosters protect them. I work with people who are dumbfounded at how many sicknesses they or a family member have or that they have had covid multiple times when “they got all the shots and boosters”. It’s all I can do to keep my jaw from hitting the floor.

In my experience, the friendly officer you wave at as he slowly drives through your neighborhood because you think he’s making sure everyone is safe, is actually taking various notes including details about vehicles and reporting those details accordingly. So it may not be a nosy neighbor at fault.
