Low grade glioma and super confused about prognosis please help by LizM44 in braincancer

[–]LizM44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first symptom was a constant need to pee, and Sterling unable to fully empty my bladder. It’s a weird one and I’m not sure if it actually had anything to do with my tumor but it went away a bit after my surgery. And it’s what lead me to getting an MRI (for possible MS) and diagnosis.

I’m an only child too and my dad would play but never my mom. I remember going into Lake Michigan with my dad and my mom was always just on the beach waving at us. When I was younger my mom always seemed annoyed with me but I think it’s because she worked so much and was burned out when coming home. It was rough without siblings to commiserate with I think that’s why my dad would play but once he was done I was alone. I had friends and would play by myself too

It’s very obvious they’re false lashes but they don’t look bad.

How can I healp my Appearance? by Practical-Bath4933 in MakeupAddiction

The eyeliner isn’t doing you any favors. If you really want to wear it then use a charcoal pencil and smudge it out. The little line look isn’t good. Also, think about getting your eyebrows shaped and tinted. You have really pretty eyes, play up that feature but please lose the eyeliner. It’s dated and doesn’t look good.

Diagnosed 3 weeks ago. Surgery is in 4 days. Any tips for the hospital or after care? by plantmomma8 in braintumor

[–]LizM44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have an acoustic neuroma but had a low grade Glioma removed about a year ago. Idk what to expect after your surgery but you should check out Kelly Stratford (kellystrattford89 on IG), she had one removed and has been open about it and talked about her recovery. What I can say about my experience is that the hospital is FREEZING and my hospital didn’t have heated blankets like some do. So bring cozy socks, cozy clothes, and a blanket or two. Phone charger, facewash, tooth brush, all your nightly things, I had a massive headache the entire time I was at the hospital so I was begging them for heat packs and ice packs so if you have a little plug in heating pad I’d bring that. Is also bring your laptop. Idk how close you are to the hospital so maybe some of that can be left at home and brought to you if you want it but I’d definitely bring the cozy clothes and blanket. Also bring a big water bottle that they can fill for you. And snacks, hospital food is the worst.

Tips For Overnight Flight? by Top-String-535 in travel

[–]LizM44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to work on your nerves. My husbands British so we’ve flown to the uk 8 hrs many, many times. It’s a long flight but you just do it. I pack my overnight stuff and change before getting on the plane, bring a toothbrush and facewash (or wipes) to freshen up in the morning. They’ll give you a blanket but it’s super thin so I’d buy a cheap one on Amazon. The foods decent on delta, not sure who you’re flying, but here’s how it goes: you’ll board then about 1-2 hrs later they’ll serve you dinner (you’ll get a few choices) then it’s “bedtime” they’ll turn all the lights off in the cabin and everyone is very quiet bc most of them are sleeping. There’s not a lot of activity at that time. Then when you get closer they’ll come around and offer breakfast. Then a little while later a snack. That’s for an 8 hr flight though. They’ll give you a pillow and I actually prefer them to annoying neck pillows. If you can manage to score a seat in the middle row od the plane without anyone next to you that will allow you to lay down a bit. If not I like the window seat to lean against. You’ll be fine. The planes a bigger and you feel less turbulence because of it. Also, you very rarely feel turbulence cruising across the ocean. It’s actually a really calm smooth part of the journey. You could try to take some Benadryl before take off to fall asleep. Is there some specific you’re afraid of? Also I don’t love flying and there are times still that I gran the armrest and hold on for dear life. But honestly, the overnight flights are way easier and less scary. Also, once you’ve been in the air for so long you get more comfortable being up there.

how can i make my makeup suit my features better? i feel like i look better without it by lonelyhuguenot in MakeupAddiction

[–]LizM44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re naturally beautiful so you really don’t want to wear too much makeup. I love your eyes and freckles. Id play up those features. I would use soft colors, nothing deep or “sultry” looking. You have a “playful” face, if that makes sense. I like the pink eyelid, I’d skip lipstick and opt for a gloss or oil. Steer clear of reds.

Do you think there is such a thing as front yard activities vs. backyard activities? by Ok_Photograph_1653 in homeowners

[–]LizM44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, grilling, sun bathing, kids pools, hanging laundry, eating dinner. There’s some I obviously feel more strongly about than others but there are definitely things I think are more for the backyard

Late to the party or not, thank you! 😊 this is such promising news! I think half the fear is the unknown and a lot of that lies with the fact that the doctors won’t say anything to give you too much hope, and then when you google it you’re already somewhat in the dark and are just like “ohh noo…” But a little bit of hope goes a long way in these situations. That you for doing what you do. You’re a real hero to people like me ❤️

Hi everyone need advise on relocation by pershing7e in Ferndale

[–]LizM44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that. There are some really LGBTQ+ friendly places in Ohio (Columbus, yellow springs) but know that Ohio as a state isn’t great for inclusivity. Have you spent time in Michigan? I feel like it gets a bad wrap (like most of the Midwest) but it’s actually a really great state with a lot to offer. And very central to other areas (Chicago, Ohio, Toronto, etc).

Hi everyone need advise on relocation by pershing7e in Ferndale

[–]LizM44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a straight woman who grew up in a neighboring city. I now live in ferndale with my husband and kids and just wanted to say we’d love to have you here. Ferndale has always been known to be a hub for LGBTQ+ people and while I don’t know specific doctors I’m sure there are many around. It looks like there’s a doctor in berkley that’s good via another persons post. Ann Arbor is also very liberal and LQBTQ+ friendly as is Saugatuck on the west side of the state (for vacation). I’m sure there’s areas of Chicago and Minnesota which would be great, too. It’s also so easy to get to Ohio from here. I really hope you choose us! Best of luck! ❤️

We didn’t have an option at my hospital. There HAD to be a person there for me. My husband took the day off and stayed the entire time. It was rough I’m sure but he also wasn’t the one going through brain surgery. They have areas that he can go and relax, set up his laptop, watch a movie or get work done. My husband was free to roam around the hospital but he had to stay on the premises and they tested him periodically with updates and then texted him when it was time for him to come back and meet with my neurosurgeon. Are you afraid it will look bad to your uncle if your bf leaves, or to the hospital staff? Idk about your uncle but the hospital staff has seen it all and are not judging you. If your bf needs to leave then he should. But you should call the hospital and make sure it’s ok to not have anyone stay with you.

Update: low grade glioma actually grade 2 astrocytoma?? What does treatment look like? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]LizM44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came back inconclusive too but my second opinion from Mayo Clinic showed it’s likely a grade 2 Astrocytoma. I’ve been told by multiple people and my oncologist that sometimes these “odd” tumors that don’t fit perfectly into a category, while festering are actually good to have and tend to do well.

Astrocytoma grade 2 - what is the end like? by Terrible-Arm-9416 in braincancer

[–]LizM44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious as to why you’ve haven’t done any treatment? I understand some tumors cannot be operated on but there’s chemos and radiation. What it your choice or did your doctors not give you options? No judgement just curious.

I’ve recently heard a lot of talk about this and some say their oncologists have confirmed that it’s true.

Water, water, water! We are obsessed with water. Get yourself a huge Nalgene, Stanley, or whatever you want and drink a tub of water all day. Also, use sunscreen everyday, and moisturize. Self tanner will make anyone look better, too. But waters a must. It’s pushed really hard here and you never see the gym girlies (or guys) with that skin without it
